What is this game?

it's an iPhone game where you create your own beasts by combining different a lot of different body parts, and then put your beast through a training camp to turn it into the best biggest fighting machine.

Training your beast, is done by playing various mini games, or by choosing a passive approach , akin to how it works in Eve online.

The fight is a mix of automatic fighting, each participant taking turn, and strategic use of Tricks which is special abilities the beasts can learn or buy in the in-game shop.

The player can only perform three tricks each battle, but if the battle judge is looking away, you can try and cheat in another trick. Don't get caught cheating the judge though.. he'll get angry!  Screamy

Story behind the game.

The team behind it is a cooperation between Tumbleweed Interactive and Dark Codex Studios. The story goes like this, Tumbleweed hooked up with Dark codex at an afterparty after they had won "best concept" award at Norwegian Game Awards, a student game dev competition.

We were from the same school, and as we had experience with developing on iPhone and they had a great concept, we talked about doing a cooperation.

The fact that both of us had been active in the demoscene and shared beers at demoparties in the past, made the decision easy. COOP!  Beer!

And here's the important part: concept art and ....
dig it, a real-life figurine. Sabotender from Dark Codex is incredibly crafty!

and the figurine of the judge.

More updates as the project develops! Smiley
We'll open up for beta testing as well when we get to that point.

Well sorta, but also no

MyBrute (no offence) doesnt let you do anything.
I mean, you make your character and select clothes and thats it.
you get what? max 6 fights per day, and you cant interact at all
when your brute gets a level up, you get to select what? nothing.
the game randomly selects a stat to raise and an ability or weapon to give you

No offence meant to MyBrute, it has great design and graphics
its just lacking heavily on the interactivity side.

MyBeast is all about interactivity, you have to train your Beast yourself and raise the stats YOU want. Also, during battles the player is allowed to perform tricks to change how the battle turns out.

If there's a referee maybe you can do some "bellow the belt" shots when he isn't looking, that would be something else Cool.

did some work on the battle system today.
Almost all the tricks in the design doc can now be implemented in the trick system.

There's still some issues with the timing and stacking of things that needs to be tested for robustness.

And of course, a lot of balancing :p

I had a bug earlier today where a damageToDeal buff made the damageToDeal go down to 0 after the duration of the trick ran out. Made me scratch my head a bit until I cought the error :p
