I was going to ask for more ranged weapons but then there one is!

Do you have to jump to complete the game, or do you actually need the amulet? Otherwise you could use polymorph and some luck to beat the game. (Although you would still need to reach the last level.)

Why not just not have any abilities for the fez hat? It shouldn't be any harder to add than any other hat, and you need 20.

I'm going to limit polymorph by dungeon level. And if you were lucky on level 20 you could use a balrog hat. I should write an ending for this.

Homage items should do cool things.

dang does it grant any wall breaking abilities? also depends on if there's a story.
I say go for it through you best throw in a silly ending for Charming(hopefully this is an action and not a spell) at least one creature on each level or Charming the Balrog.

I'm not doing a charm spell anymore. The AI would become impossible to manage.

isn't like adding another minion with polymorph or that's what I proceed it.
So much of playing through using nothing but good looks and a mob of fan boys/girls. at least getting Twins that look dapper still an option.

No, it would be like adding several minions. Which would stack all in the same place due to the decision I made to let the player walk through the minion.

And if the stacking doesn't ruin the gameplay by making it a cakewalk, then there's the problem of what happens when the spell wears off. Loads of monsters occupying the same space

Or I could have them not occupy the same space and then they'd get in your way or kill you.

There's no way of doing the spell that I can see that doesn't result in a poorly implemented mechanic.

Well I see it once you go into charming the next set of levels will increase in difficulty to fix the fact your recruiting minions to do your bidding than killing them, don't have it so that it wears off(given the life expectancy in this game you don't need a wearing effect of the spell) which will fix the issue of the waning effect and give the Nymph a chance to Charm one of your party members so that you would likely would either avoid, kill, Charm the nymph. Polymorphing into the nymph might get you/or minion the ability to do this as an action.
that way if I do go through and Charm up to the balrog, the beast would be way stronger than the group would if I normally gone through.

Not happening. Sorry.

I haven't even got the monster AI working because there is a trick you can do that makes the monsters commit suicide. And that ruins the game. Hence they are currently multiple colours because the AI is fucked.

I'm not spending the rest of my life sorting out the AI for two armies in a platform game.

so no silly ending if you pause go to action and hit the never existing before in any other levels "Woo" action while the balrog on screen Leading to silly hearts flying from the balrog's head and a romantic montage leading to a final scene being them watching lil Red Balrogues being playful?

The source code will still be online. You're welcome to mangle it how you please.

I had not considered using Balrog from Cave Story as opposed to the big flamy bastard in Lord of the Rings. That would be pretty funny.

might as well throw in balrog(boxer) in there as well. so you could stack their heads for a nice balrogue hat + suit combo.
like this

edit: Just found a bug where if the skeleton kills something to bump over to the quickening while your in climbing down stairs animation you will be stuck behind the wall only to be seen in the open door way.

Updated the menu to have smooth movement. Took about a week to layer on the illusion. Might tweak the sound effects and the selection animation a bit more though.

Link to the current build in my signature.

Just reminding myself that I want to have the minimap illustrate the boundaries of the level now.

Already implemented minion location and traps/secrets location.

Currently installing new physics engine - will be a while.

Just trying to finish converting the Stairs object into a Portal - which means portal will should be the next spell:

Eat portal: you get a portal to the surface.

Cast portal on a monster: creates a monster spawner, loads of monsters pile out of the portal before it closes. It will not be accessible by the player. A way to boost XP and farm for items.

Enchant item: Sends the item into a pocket dungeon level for you to go on a quest to retrieve it (it will be upgraded, and perhaps cursed)

Feed minion: creates a minion spawner - heals the minon on touch and respawns minion if it is killed (so you can create a minon checkpoint on the current level)

Most of this work is simply get the Player object to enter the new physics engine.

Note to self: Stop pushDamping:0 crates from accepting child Colliders

Currently trying to fix a million physics bugs. The code is unrecognisable from its former self, but very slowly getting back to normal.
