Well, I'm not a fan, I barely played it, but I still think it looks like it will disappoint people.

Am I the only one in the world that thinks that Rocket Knight Adventures was only average? Seems like everyone I know shits their bricks over it, and I'm just like "eh, it's okay."
I think it's more people in general don't worry about things they don't like or care about.

I'm apparently the only person in the world who hates LBP's graphics.
I loved Rocket Knight Adventures because it was so unabashedly anachronistic, even excluding the medieval jet-pack-clad protagonist. You start the game in the ye olde countryside, and by the last stage you're on a secret base on the moon. There aren't many other games out there that are so willing to throw history and science to the wind in order to make a unique and fun game.

... and by the last stage you're on a secret bass on the moon. That would be so freakin' awesome, but just to be clear are we talking about the fish or the guitar? :D

edit'd. Although, riding around in medieval jetpack armor while riding on a giant space fish and defeating enemies with the power of rock sounds like an idea that could only go right. It could be called... I dunno, Rocket Space Fish Bass Adventures? Golden.

It's a sequel, not a remake.

It could be called... I dunno, Rocket Space Fish Bass Adventures? Golden. I was less picking on the spelling and more struck by the random awesomeness of the resulting phrase. And I would definitely check out Rocket Space Fish Bass Adventures. Now I'm having ideas for a very random game who's entire story is based in misspellings and/or spell checker screw ups... Ahem, sorry gentlemen, I digress...

What a shame. The ReBirth games up until now have been using awesome 2D graphics. I love what they did for Contra ReBirth for example.
I wish they kept going with that. Why did they suddenly decide to go for 3D graphics, especially for a game like Rocket Knight Adventures? FFFFFFFFFF
God damn it Konami, you dropped the ball too soon.
EDIT: Graphics aside, hopefully it plays good. Perhaps I shouldn't judge everything based on the fact that it's not 2D.

Well didn't you see? The old games were on much tinier screens than the new one. That's a big difference. Man, showing the SNES Sparkster in particular right before the new one was a mistake. I think it would have had something closer to the impact they wanted if they only showed the Genesis RKA. Showing a later game just displays progression in the art and presentation (even if Sparkster on SNES was a worse game than RKA), magnifying the fact that the new game breaks the art/presentation pattern in a bad way.

Even beyond the graphics, the game looks really slow! In the first Rocket Knight Adventures, yo would be traversing the width of several screens in a single jetpack blast. Your power seems to have been drastically reduced in this version. The trailer even showed a bit of flying mode, and it looked like Sparkster was inching across the screen.

They should just trash what they have of the new one and start over with a better art direction

It's so laughably bad looking, it's hard to see that as anything other than a Konami ruse, just like they did with Metal Gear Solid 2 (the snake/raiden switch). Just wait, I'm pretty sure they got a Odin Sphere looking game instead of the ugly, sluggish, badly textured mess they just dared show to an unwary public. It looks worse than the first Crash Bandicoot game on psx, seriously, who did they outsource this one to?

http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/27447New trailer up. The game looks significantly more polished now, but it still looks entirely too much like a PS1 era Crash Bandicoot game for my liking.
