Do the styles really have to be "badass"?

Anyways, I'd say this guy's.

And here's a pretty badass picture he did.

Ah, good, another Awesome Art thread. We used to have one, but I think it got lost. At least, I can't find it anymore.

ANYWAY,

Shaun Tan. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's possibly my favourite. Mostly does picture books.

Do I win a prize?

ALSO: Pina is fantastic!

YES! Shaun Tan has most badass drawings ever! My favorite book has to be The Arrival
(Some pages from The Arrival)

I also got the pleasure of meeting Mr Tan! It was awesome! He came around to my primary school and brought some of his original pictures from the books!

James Jean, one of my faves, without a doubt.

Sparth, another alltime favorite.

Dan McPharlin, awesome. Incredible sci-fi-ness.

@Xion: Pietepiet showed it to me, he found it here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=374094

That thread sort of links to the sources of all the different pictures.

And yes, the Arrival was a masterpiece.

What is... this feeling? LOVE?

 Shocked

That must've been so cool. I remember being wowed by The Rabbits when I was 6. So grim, and yet so beautifully illustrated. I must track down all of his books I haven't yet read! Especially The Arrival.

If we're doing awesome sci-fi art, how about some Chris Foss? Or Mr. H. R. Giger? Masters in their fields, IMHO.

I'd post images but I imagine everyone here is already aware of their works. If not, go look 'em up.

Good ole Craig. Smiley He was a big inspiration for me in high school.

This guy has taken a new approach to the style of Sam Keith, which was a new approach to the style of Frank Frazetta. They are my favorite artists.
