Giovanni Battista Piranesi, the 18th Century engraver,  had a truly badass art style. Someone needs to take his "Imaginary prisons" series and turn them into a 3D dungeon crawl.



And yeah, there's at least one impossible shape in there. Opinions differ as to whether this is because he was a genius forbear of MC Escher or whether he just sucked at perspective. But it rocks either way.
