So I think you can tell what's happening here when I show you this image. (Excuse the link, it's a huge picture.)


Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Is this a .png file that you're using?

If this is the case, open the file in photoshop, and magic wand all the transparent pixels.  Hit delete to clear the pixels.  Save out the .png.  Try again.

There's color data still in the png where the transparency is.  For some reason, game maker freaks out at this, and will take that color data and put it back to full opacity -- even if it's supposed to be completely transparent.

Yeah, it's a PNG with film grain since that's the look I want my game to have.
