I'm up for that.

Seriously, though, Christmas may make things difficult. It would be a shame if the programmers couldn't get a decent run at this because they were too busy visiting their relatives / playing with their new toys / drinking too much or whatever. Maybe we should allow them an extra week?

Speaking as a programmer, it will always take an extra week anyway. Always. For everything. TIGsource contest? Extra week. ACM programming competition? Extra week. Ludum Dare? Extra week. Sometimes more.  Wink

Forgive me if this has been answered, but does a deadline of "November 29 (Around Midnight)" include all of Sunday, November 29th itself? Or does it end as soon as Sunday begins?

It includes all of Sunday (basically, whenever you go to bed Sunday night/Monday morning).

Do we get some sort of fireworks or celebration or something?

Maybe a "put everything in the first post"-reminder was usefull right now.

Has anybody thought about extending the deadline for this a bit? I think everbody would like some more time to work with.

As it goes, while I'd never think to ask for it, I'd certainly appreciate a deadline extension; my girlfriend is staying with me temporarily until she moves into her new flat to start work in a new place on the 30th, so I'm kind of distracted until just when phase 1 finishes, and managing to knock out something like one extra costume piece for my little animated guy a day at the current rate...
An extra week or few days would be a much appreciated extension to Assemblee Part I.  But as awesome as this competition is, and as much as I would enjoy a few more days to work on Part I, it shouldn't be drug out.  Not saying that it would be drug out if it were to be extended a few more days.  Would be a nice "Christmas" ( or "Thanksgiving" for us in the USA) surprise gift/present.

Though possibly a little more than all of December for Assemblee Part II would really help out programmers (I am sure I could benefit from it) complete there game with Christmas, relatives, trips, new years, etc taking up so much time.  Maybe a "Christmas" gift to both the Programmers and Artists of an extra week of time?
EDIT: Granted, I don't even know when the deadline is for Part II yet.

Heehee. I remember when I thought that "brang" was a legitimate past tense of "bring".

Right, 'dragged', not drug. Corny Laugh

Agreed. I had to work like crazy to meet the deadline, but I have to admit even a couple extra days would give me time to finish up my robot dragon and maybe make another sound pack.

Ergh. Voting against extension. Extending deadline misses half the point of the competition. If you got a late start, or didn't have time to do everything you wanted.. oh well! Nothing is stopping you from still working on whatever you were doing, and releasing those assets publically at a later date. But for purposes of Part II, no more assets should be allowed, and the Part I forum should be locked/frozen already.
