These would make great static backgrounds for a 2d Side Scroller. However if you gave us the fore ground independent of the background and tiled it, a good programmer could get some parallax action going on.

ok, thanks for the advise. it is easy schmeasy to separate the bg from the fg, but i honestly don't really know how to tile that...i mean, i get the idea and all, but are there some rules or agreements on how to do it exactly? like some standard? actually, i would love to see that parallax-ed. I think a programmer would also want the birds separate, otherwise they will just sit there lifelessly
three separate birds separate, coming right up. EDIT: separated the first layer and made it tileable... ...as you can see here. shall i proceed in a similar manner?

A quick tile trick is to take the immage you have, cut it in 1/2 and flip the sides. The edges will tile perfectly and all you need to do is fix the middle. Edit: Never mind, I forgot to scroll when viewing your immage. Those black mountains look great. shall i proceed in a similar manner?
Yes

Looks like its anti aliased over the magic pink.
Can you give a transparent png and a non antialiased version with the pink? (otherwise its quite difficult to put into games)

Yes No! anti aliasing will mix the pink in your lovely tiles. turn anti aliasing off or use transparent pngs

Oops Cougarten is right, you have an anti aliasing issue. This will give your immage a pink halo if incorperated as is. Don't save as jpg. The lossy compression doesn't make for good importing into a game.

The spiky brown BG is niiiice. Ideally, as well as the spiky foreground, I'd want the sky as a separate image, and the clouds as spearate images, too (with maybe a few variations). Then you could have parallax scrolling AND randomly-placed clouds which also scrolled, and it would be super awesome. I wasn't planning to enter the programming part of this compo, but you're tempting me...

yeah, i know that. only when i uploaded my transparent png it turned out like this: i only saved as jpeg to show that its tileable. gotta upload it somewhere else. but thaaanks for the many replies, this is the forum with the nicest people ive been to, seriously. very motivating. + some clouds (EDIT: there you go, dbb )
