I suppose I got the title from this poor guy over here:

http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=2214.0

But it partially seemed to fit so I just used some of it. I'm going to be starting a new show on YouTube based on what's it's like to be an indie dev for me. I'm calling it A Diary of An Indie Dev. It's going to be fairly personal, fairly plain. I mostly started because of seeing the documentaries that are coming out and wanted to try to do my own little take on the individual.

I have a few ideas of my own, but I just thought I'd ask.

What do you guys want to see? I mean, what exactly should I cover about being an independant developer? I'm open to ideas of all sorts. Just let me know on this thread and I'll do my best to make a point on it!

Hmmm... I believe with a theme like yours, most of your early viewers will consist of aspiring game developers who want to know what is involved in joining the indie scene. So you may want to have episodes showing your own experiences in starting out.

If you get to finish a game, a post-mortem would be nice where you could enumerate what contributed to the success and what things you have learned in making that game.

Keep in mind that it is in shows like this that content and execution is key. Looking forward to your show and wish you luck!

Yeah, I do intend to do quite a few post mortems. I also intend to take the view along for the actual development of a game or two. One of the things I also intend on doing is telling people who I am. For ie, what I believe, what I do when not making games, my other hobbies, maybe random nonsense babble, etc etc. Because, I think, that people need to see that indie developers are normal people too. And that they have their own individual personality quirks and that is part of what makes their games so unique.
(yes, i'm looking at you, Au Sable!)

I'd like to see problems and how you overcame them.  While technical problems (coding) might not lend themselves to the videoblog format, things like finding the right engine and the right people for a project would be neat to see addressed.

As long as there are boobs, I'd be glad to watch the show!

But in all seriousness, I think it'd be a great idea to tell your lifestory and tell us what games mean to you and your personal connection with creating them.

It would be interesting to suggest remakes or take out ideas from old games from the 80's and early 90's from all the available systems including atari, commodore 64, arcade, from all over the world :D

Well, at least I'm on the right track. I don't know about doing shows on remaking older games though. Any more suggestions from you all?
