The original voting post:

Apparently Derek's off to Australia or something, and he's asked me to take care of things with this contest. So I'm going to run a forum poll for the next week to decide on a winner! Like with the B-Games contest, you can choose up to three games.

There are ten entries in total, please play all of them before you vote! Authors are free to vote for their own game if they wish.

In grand IF tradition, we'll also be holding a Miss Congeniality contest! Everyone who completed an entry for the contest may PM me with a vote for three games (in this case, excluding their own) before next week. This is totally optional. Winners to this will be announced only if at least half the participants vote.

I think that should about do it for the rules. If you've got any questions, feel free to post them in this thread!

How to play these games:

To play these games, you'll need to download an interpreter for each format. I recommend the following:

Alternatively, there are a few multiformat players available. For windows, try Gargoyle (WARNING: It's a nice player, but it messes up the colours and formatting in some games). For Macs, try Spatterlight.

Alright then! Without further ado, here are the games, sorted by format and then alphabetically:

Just a reminder, since the forums were down and everything:

If you intend to vote for this, you've only got another two days to do so. That's still enough time to try out all the entries.

And authors: If you want to take part in the Miss Congeniality voting (wherby the entrants choose the winner), you'll have to send me a PM before voting ends.

Best of luck to everyone taking part.

Congratulations Pacian and Akhel!

You deserved it.

Based on the amount of votes, IF is definitely not a very popular genre Smiley.

Well, not around here, anyway Smiley Maybe we should start posting more IF stuff to the frontpage?

Also, looks like Derek is still off in whereever he is, so I'm going to go ahead and post this to the frontpage...

I also was a player who didn't get to the voting. This forum definitely has opened my eyes to a lot of cool games and ideas, so apart from the competition itself I'm hoping there'll be some crossover for people here to what's going on in IF too.

I'm not surprised, there was less time and more work than I had thought, and my game only got "finished" after I came home from a Christmas party around 4am.

It was a lot of fun to play through the entries though. All of them had something that made them interesting and worth playing. So congratulations to everyone who took part, and until next time. Grin

Great job guys!

I think if we kept doing this one on a regular basis it would grow in popularity. I know I wanted to enter, but didn't have enough time to learn Inform with everything else going on.

I would've voted if it wasn't for the shortness and/or timing of the voting period..

Oh, sorry - why didn't you say something? It wouldn't have been a big deal to change that...

Well, er, I wasn't around much to request it, and wouldn't think you'd extend it just for me anyway..  I didn't even enter this compo myself.  (Next one, though!)

What I was trying to say was, I'm probably not the only one who didn't get around to voting, since (I'm told) christmas and new year's happen to other people too.  So, perhaps IFs are more popular around here than the number of voters would indicate?  Or maybe not, I guess we won't know until the next IF compo (maybe).

In any case, congratulations everyone Smiley

Hmm, I don't think that was necessarily the case. The competition was during the holidays and I am sure that stopped many people (myself included) from entering and playing through the entries. I think that if this was done at a different time it would have had a much higher turn out. Not to say it would have been B-Games big but I think it certainly would have been better.
