RPG + RTS
you are the head of an adventurers guild, send out adventurers to gather resources and fight monsters, watch as they run into random battles during their quests!

RTS + the Minecraft multiplayer experience
Minecraft multiplayer is like a group adventure. Everyone is in a world contributing to it's development. You can see each other at a distance, communicate through chat, but mostly have to work with others using the same methods available in real life. Everyone owns a piece of what the group is trying to accomplish. That's interesting.
The most stagnant element of RTS is the "God" perspective. You can always do everything and see everything. Creative building games existed before Minecraft, but Minecraft made the experience tangible. It showed you that each structure provides a different experiential feeling and players were introduced to their own creativity as a result.
I'd like to see that idea of reduced perspective in Minecraft exist in an RTS that's rooted in it's co-operative multiplayer. It doesn't have to be PVP. You could team up against AIs, or better yet, generated sequences of challenges. You RTS through a world, not into an enemy.
Everyone can only see a small piece of the forces they're trying to control. Teamwork is necessary and it isn't contrived. You have to co-operate because you literally can only be in one place at a time. You have to divide responsibilities by your strengths and constantly communicate.
I'd like that game very much.

So it would be like open-world, cooperative Overlord?

Doesn't have to be open-world. Could be a new level each time, but you have to "beat" them to get to the "harder" ones. .
I haven't played Overlord.

Minecraft + Word spellingInstead of digging for materials to craft certain items, you dig for letters to make words. Longer words get you...more points...need to work out details

Word Spelling + World of Goo
Each goo ball has a letter on it. In order to expand the "goo lattice", you must first select a group of goo balls that spell a word, then you can drag those goo balls to extend the lattice.

World of Goo + FPS
Your "gun" can only produce matter (like the block gun in Voxatron) that sticks to things and remove the matter which it has produced. You must build structures to achieve goals (all goals are pretty much just "go there") and you can only kill enemies indirectly by making them fall large distances or landing matter on top of them.

Cursor*10+RTS+stealth
you are one man from the Yellow army sent to infiltrate the purple army. Having speed through the task you got 10 days to evac. BUT The infamous Hitech Green army came to raid the station and kill every one there for their great "Grassland". Use your stealth skills(basic knocking out and dragging folks and detection diversion) to manipulate the purple militia to hold off Green invasion long enough for Yellow to Evac you. But be warned you can't be seen by the purple doing this. Your still on a stealth mission and Purple can't suspect Yellow sent in someone or their treaty breaks.
Technically you are the cursor for a RTS game but you must remain hidden from their view while doing so.
