I know that DrPetter appears on this forum from time to time but his awesome project by the name "Musagi" has been mentioned only four times in total and never in its own thread. I guess DrPetter doesn't want to advertise an unfinished product but even in its current state Musagi is more polished than many shareware or maybe even commercial music editors. pxTone can't really compete with this one and isn't even that much easier to use!
Well - it's a music editor focused on retro-sounds and chip-tunes but it can be adapted to virtually any kind of music by loading and editing samples etc.

http://www.cyd.liu.se/~tompe573/hp/tutorial_musagi1.htmlThis project really needs more attention (
like an article on the front page, perhaps? :-P) so as to give DrPetter the motivation to finish it. :-D
Currently I consider to use it instead of FL Studio for some simpler tunes since it's user-friendlier and doesn't fill your screen with more stuff than you need. =)
P.S. I am aware that another project of DrPetter,
SFXR, made quite a splash several weeks ago so I wonder why THIS hasn't made an even greater splash. Maybe because SFXR is even easier to use and quite nice for almost all game developers and Musagi is aimed at real composers. However, I think that it might encourage some people (just like DrPetter's brother?) to start composing, since it's not difficult to learn.
