I finished 1 games!

It's called Coin Hunt.

You play a flea merchant on the hunt for coins. Avoid the Eyeballs as they will knock you (and your purse) around. If you find a gem on the ground, throw it at them and they will explode into cash! Or you can toss it to a lady that might be walking around for even more money. Watch out for the masked creeps that will take any coins that are left lying around.

It's played entirely with the mouse. Click to throw a gem after you pick one up.

Artists used:
aueft - characters
Nook - coin and gems
Turbo Brother - ground tiles
yokomeshi - cursors
James Tillman - title screen (Victory), credit screen (Lazie)
Sos - main BGM (Sunday Service)
John Nesky and Boomlinde - various sound effects

Since my main deficiency has always been in finishing things, I intend to make as many games as possible during this contest.

I've taken a liking to Unity, so expect something from that. Also I'm going to use Flixel. In-fact, as I typed that very sentence, I decided to use Flixel instead of rolling my own isometric tile engine in C++.

I've also set up a twitter account just for this contest. I'll keep it up to date on what exactly I'm doing as I work. Don't know how interesting it will be, but feel free to suggest things I should be mentioning. It'll be like some sort of twitcast or something.

Good luck sir. These compos helped cure me of my never-complete-itis. Now I preach to the similarly afflicted.

Just be sure to keep this thread updated on major occurrences too.

I put up a screenshot. I'll try to replace it with a new one every day.

Currently the train can drive around and collide with things, including all the different ground blocks. I did make some collision meshes for the blocks that aren't cube shaped, but I don't think that really counts as assets (you can't see them at all even!)

The camera is attached to the player with a spring joint, but I can't keep it from being too springy. I need a different solution.

Collision meshes and invisible stuff like that are all A-OK. Go loco.

Also, yay Unity.

I ran in to some issues with the unity project a while back and started working on another game. Maybe I'll get back to the unity one, but not until this one is done, which should be fairly soon.

So far all the game elements are in place.

It occurred to me that I might need to bump this so people can see there is a link to the finished game in the first post.

What do you think about it? I might expand on this concept and make a full game out of it, with different areas, more people and objects to encounter, maybe an inventory or something.

Liked: This is brilliant! I can't believe the thread was way down on page six. It's really cute and surprisingly fun for such a simple game. If I didn't have so many games to try I would definitely have spent long playing.

Disliked: There's not much to dislike. The play window was a little small. The games were also very inconsistent. Sometimes I'd have eyeballs chasing me from the start and sometimes I wouldn't see one until right near the end. I would have liked to have had some way to extend the time limit too. Maybe hitting the masked guys could extend the time left? These are all minor gripes though.

Conclusions: Cute and simple. And a great game too. What more do you need?
