I'm sure this thing is familiar to anyone who has played some older-era games with low resolution. Sometimes there are enemies/NPCs/whatever that you can't at all recognize/identify, like a character with such lazy pixeling that you can't say what the sprite even tries to depict. I suddenly realized it might be fun to hear what kinds of recognizing problems other people have had in terms of game graphics. So, because my description sucks as usual, I'll give an example and then I wish you would post similar experiences you've had in the past. I've played Kirby's Adventure since I was 5, and I love that game. However, there's this Cutter enemy that I never really understood. My image of it was kind of a parrot, though while looking at the later versions of the same enemy I see that I didn't get it right! - I wonder if anyone else has seen it this way. I doubt that, though!

I know that enemy too, my first encounter in Kirby's Dreamland. I've always thought of it as a walking helmet though, as far as I can recall. But anyway, I know what you mean. I think it's part of the charm of 8-bit era games. Also, very often enemies aren't really supposed to depict anything. Especially in a lot of older shmups, you're basically fighting random doodles. Actually I'm trying to recapture this feeling with the enemy designs in my own games a bit.

The "peace sign" win symbols. They look exactly like bears to me.

I always thought was completely side on, no mostly a front view. We talked about it in a thread before so I know I'm not alone! The front eye is the visible eye, and the bottom of the green thing looks like a nose. The eye towards the back is sideburns.

I imagine the white "T" between the two fingers as the top of the bear's head, with the pixel where the fingers join as its nose and the eyes as the pixels above that. It's only really the head, but the other tucked in fingers I interpret as arms.
@Ishi- Woah, I see it.

How do I revert back to the correct way now?!?!

Also, I think I've seen dozens of things like this but can't remember any at the moment D: At least some enemies in GBC Zeldas were rather confusing.

Ha, this thread is pretty cool. I remember reading that a lot of people always saw Link to the Past's Ganon as a toad-like creature with its mouth open, instead of his robe and tiara above his head. (at least I think it's Ganon, I don't follow Zelda's plot all that much) If you're one of those people, don't worry, you are not alone. And no, I don't see it that way.

Same with me. La Mulana is a game with really weird looking enemies. For instance these blue guys . I mean, what the fuck are those things? I really have no clue. And what are these? Flying chili peppers? Flying sausages?
