I'm making a retro-ish platformer that requires a lot of different kinds of SFX.  I'd like help finding either some sort of sound pack that would fit, or an easier way to make sounds then the 8-bit random sound generator.

Thanks  Smiley

however, i don't know about legal issues since some samples are from actual games. but if do do a little research you might just find what you are looking for, i guess.

If you haven't heard of it yet, sfxr should do you just fine.

I actually have been able to get some decent sounds by messing with the random sound effect generator, but I'll let you know if I need help.  Smiley

I had already tried that before, and I was intimidated by it, but now I am slowly understanding what all the knobs do.  Kind of...

Most sfxr sounds tend to...sound like sfxr sounds. If you figure out what the knobs do, grab yourself a nice DAW (REAPER, for example) and then go to town with effects on 8-bit-like synths, and you'll come out with sounds that are much more original. the only problem is there is more difficulty in keeping the sound palette relatively uniform (something I am not very good at yet).

I've actually gotten some sounds that I like from SFXR.  Some of them still need work though.  If you want, you should check them out in my game and see how they sound.
