If you make a full length chiptune album, I'll buy it. EDIT: Double post, please excuse that.

It's been mentioned multiple times in the last couple posts: There's a 30-second time limit. Your track is 50 seconds without any loops.

I guess I'll also jump on the ' sad' bandwagon with the track 'Sadness': http://tindeck.com/listen/fvnnAs second emotion I picked ' hate', resulting in the track 'HATE': http://tindeck.com/listen/yralIf we're talking DAWs, these tracks (as well as anything else I've made) are made in FL Studio (version 9.1, using pattern blocks without any pattern clips). I really like both of your pieces and how different they are from other interpretations. Really, everyone's work has been like that. I guess it goes to show how differently we all interpret emotions.

Hey guys! First of all, thanks to everyone who submitted their pieces! Its great to see entries rolling in almost a week before the deadline. A few things to keep in mind: - Please make sure you read the rules thoroughly, especially keeping the time limit (30 seconds) in mind when composing your piece.
- Make sure your criticism is constructive, not critical.
- Lastly, don't be afraid to ask others for feedback/opinions. Your biggest resource may be this community!
Thanks again everyone for the fantastic turnout! Can't wait to see how many entries we have by the 22nd 21st!

Nice piece yoshimitsu! Gotta love that shakuhachi, my only criticism would be that it has too much low-end for my taste, but I'm impressed if that's your first attempt at sampling

Had a quick go at sad: http://retrohelix.net/music/sad.mp3edit* for anyone interested, the piano sounds are from a vst called Prova which can be found here and the synth is Medusa 2.

Nice piece retrohelix, got a real retro vibe and I love Prova! I use it for all my piano composing and using it on all the tracks I'm doing on a game at the moment.

Thanks! I'm no pianist, but it sounds great to my ears, especially with a bit of ambience thrown on. Now I just need to figure out something good to do with it

http://soundcloud.com/lamontx/loveLAST MINUTE ENTRYYYYYY GGOOOOOOOOOOO Edit: Phew.... I actually had to ask a developer what a 3d pixel was, then cut out 3/4 of the song I made because I realised it was supposed to be 30 seconds long! THEN THE BROWSER CRASHED WHEN I WAS GONNA POST. I'm gonna take a potato chip and EAT IT. VICTORYYYYYYYY Well anyway, many of the songs here are great. Except for that one that sounds like it came straight out of Star Stealing Girl by Yasunori Mitsuda, you know you you are! *Wink wink.*

Hey guys. Just a heads up, there are currently about 6 hours left to enter your piece into the competition (Today at midnight EST). No entries will be counted if they were submitted after midnight. The results will be posted by Wednesday afternoon, and the winner will be announced. Good luck to all that participated!

Since the competition has ended, and judging is completed, I will post all the qualified entries, then the results! Let me just say that this competition was really hard to judge just because of the amount of entries as well as the amount of talent. Thanks to everyone who entered! Qualified Entries:Soundhound - http://picosong.com/wSvR/ - sad Soundhound - http://picosong.com/w6wd/ - love Lkcomposer - http://picosong.com/w6yN/ - sad toilet master - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2957395/toilet.mp3 - sad VDZ - http://tindeck.com/listen/fvnn - sad VDZ - http://tindeck.com/listen/yral - hate MattZ2007 - http://soundcloud.com/matt-pirtle/falling - hate MattZ2007 - http://soundcloud.com/matt-pirtle/alone - love yoshimitsu - http://www.soundcloud.com/ronin-narasu/broken-spirit - sad KomradeJack - http://soundcloud.com/jackmenhorn/unepinsa01 - sad retrohelix - http://retrohelix.net/music/sad.mp3 - sad lamontx - http://soundcloud.com/lamontx/love - love Results:And the winner is...yoshimitsu for his piece "Broken Spirits". This piece actually surprised me the first time I heard it. Although the sampled guitar and the metallic percussion seemed to muffle the music, I really admire yoshimitsu's use of western and middle-eastern instruments to create a piece of music that captured the emotion of "sad". One big thing that really separated this piece from others was its creative design. Instead of using a repetition of generic chords to create a solemn atmosphere, the mix of metallic/hard-hit percussion, shakuhachi, sampled guitar, and a slight use of strings created a kind of cinematic tension that brought the listener to a dark and suspenseful world. Great job, really. Because I feel that this competition was really close, I decided to pick 3 Runners Up:"Alone" by MattZ2007 - I felt this piece really did captured the emotion of love. The use of guitar and clarinet created a flirty mood that anyone could relate to. My only suggestion would be that maybe you could incorporate more instruments (ie, piano, harp, flutes). "Sadness" by VDZ - This piece did a great job depicting a sad emotion. This piece had depth, but I just felt it could have a little more by adding moving violin lines on top of the string harmony, or a bass piano part. "toilet" by toilet master - This piece, as much as I love to listen to it, doesn't really capture the emotion of "sad". I honestly felt that this would be better fit in the category of "love" with its somewhat minor beginning, and then its bright use of sythns and a nice rhythm from the drum kit later on in the piece. Regardless, I love what you did here and it certainly deserves some attention. Thank you again for all your entries, and yoshimistu, Im looking forward to reading what your next theme will be.

Fuck yeah, I won. I'm quite surprised really, given the quality of the other tracks I hadn't expected to come out in first place. Thank you Tejas Shroff! I'm already writing up the next challenge thread. Great tracks everyone!
