Good start. Archive.org shows the same copyright info up until July 12, 2001, when the front page was replaced with one reading "domain name for sale." I assume that this was around the time XYZ Inc. dissolved. That seems to fit the time frame that guy mentioned. Now we're just missing the most important part of the puzzle: evidence that Langdell actually did or did not work there.

Yer, it's a bit of a toughie to trace given the deliberate obfuscation of his work history and general self mythologising. There is a definite gap in his history though which leads me to believe it's certainly reasonable that he worked there (having known of other game industry folks wants to dip their toe in anything that may be deemed profitable even if it may be porn related - see Everiss' slightly disturbing MIND BLEACH TO AISLE 2 PLEASE porn forum for example) In the late 1990s Langdell, in a brief excursion away from his central career in entertainment, was recruited to take on the role of COO of Altamira Group which with Langdell's assistance produced the award winning Genuine Fractals Photoshop plug-in.[citation needed] In 1997, Genuine Fractals won a MacWorld Eddy.[13] It was notable also because Genuine Fractals was the first product developed on PC and ported to Mac to win an EDDY.[citation needed] Genuine Fractals is still an industry standard for professional image resizing and is used by graphics professionals worldwide.[citation needed]
Having taught games and interactive media at the USC Film School from 1992, Langdell helped launch a range of interactive media and multimedia/web design classes at the UCLA Extension on Universal City Walk.[citation needed] Langdell then returned to USC in 2003 So, somewhere between 1997 and 2002 he was definitely MIA according to his own mythology. And it would just be "another job". So yeah, I don't doubt it's true at all but having something concrete to laugh at prove it would be lovely beans.

I can't seem to get to Mobigame's main page right now (conspiracy?) but I found it infinitely amusing that on Twitter Mobigame pointed out Peter Molyneux defriended Tim Langdell on facebook. :D Tim L. and Tom B. on the other hand, are still listed as friends, how sweet Yes I'm easily amused, deal with it!

with all the people he's worked with and not paid i'm amazed he keeps getting more people to work for him -- though i guess before the internet existed it was kind hard to do research on people before working with them

--on this site, DivaDee.com is listed as an online DVD store. Some posters (all anonymous) lament the loss of the site, one of whom notes that it was "tasteful." The address is listed as 17922 Fitch Ave, Irvine, CA 92614. Googling the address turns up Interplay Productions, inc. What. (Wait, looks like most of the other results are games stuff too, and divadee was in suite 175.)

Highlights from the NSFW thread Rufus was referring to: If they are going out of business, they have a strange way of doing it! I have been in constant contact with one of the owners, he sacked that Tim guy (fyi) He has made payments to everyone, and those he was unaware of, (reason why Tim is gone?) he has confirmed and made payment. I purchased from them on the 22nd of August. One title was not in stock and still has not arrived. I mistakenly thought I had been billed for this title and put a comment in this thread a week ago. I received a terse email from them indicating all orders were being filled. Its a week later and still no title. I find it hard to believe that it takes 30 days to ship a Private title. Help! Help! Help!
I didn't noticed that Divadee.com is closing and ordered 4 DVDs including a pre-order a couple of days ago. I got 3 DVDs from them before they closed. But they charged me more than what they advertised on their web site for one of the 3 DVDs. What can I do now? Call my credit card bank?
Please tell me if you know how to deal with this. Thanks a lot! It hurts just reading about it- signs of hope, payments made-COD orders taken- Tim gets fired Then the newest news. Consumers being ripped off, terse communication, servers down.
Jeez DIE ALREADY!! Will YA!!! I also would be very interested to see the emails.

Tim Langdell looks like a viking. Bushy beard, Unkempt hair. And the cold-blooded eyes of a killer.
It sort of makes sense, really, if you consider all the raping and pillaging he does.
Somebody 'shop a viking hat onto his head!

At least when Vikings ruined people's lives it was with the awesomeness of the sword and the axe and fire and not the lameness of the summons and the cease & desist letter.

Well, if Tim is a viking, then he should definitely go the way of the viking. Put him on a boat, push it out to sea, then set fire to it.
Oh, he has to be dead first? Meh, minor detail.

To drop the sarcasm, here's some more idiocy. The article keeps saying "vidgames" instead of "videogames". They also begin a paragraph by saying "Firm has begun working on licensing..." I think that's all we need to know, seeing as how the only organization wikipedia knows of called "firm" is a criminal gang active in the East End of London.
Um, Variety has been known for its weird abbreviations and showbiz jargon since the '20s. Nothing wrong there. In fact, if it is a fake, it's a darn good one for reproducing that aspect of the publication.

Actually you've got a point there. I just did some research, and... Holy shit, I was wrong, Langdell wasn't lying. EDIT: Although... there isn't any evidence that any of these stories were actually printed in the paper. So that part may still be false.
