here's some new stuff I did yesterday...
Finaly finished this sucker:
the slashing is actualy an attack and will not happen that often... he'll get some lesser movement too.

I also decided to take part of the PC-Engine scene, and will contribute some art
to a vertical shooter currently in works. here are the first 3 enemies:

they all share the same palette currently... working in 9bit is fun!

Squad-based Shmup in which enemy ships are assimilated into your own...flock? (yes, even those big ones.)

I would buy that in a second. That is such an awesome idea.

I have a design for a vertical shooter where you have to collect electronic parts from defeated enemies, using them to upgrade and repair your ship, like in 'Hyperspeed'. If you combined these two concepts, I would die of anticipation.

That's an early (and ugly) mockup of my design, without any components in place. You could see the various parts get damaged on the right as you took hits, or perhaps you could see systems which were overheating (blue conduit) or not getting enough power (yellow conduits). When you paused the game, the left-hand frame would be replaced with a drawer full of electronics you had collected from space, and you could drag them from the left into slots on the right.

Sometimes you would recover an exotic component from a defeated boss, like a powerful weapons component or a high-capacity battery. But it would eventually be broken and lost if you took fire. And of course, you would need to pause and reroute power or cooling to weapons during a boss fight, or to shields when you were surrounded by enemies.

oooo i had a similar idea but i boiled it down to like a panic moment, where when you've taken the last bit of damage, a little "reroute your systems" minigame pops up, and you have to mix and match and reconnect a few things in a few seconds, and it gives you a little bit of your shields back so you can continue flying...

Hi.  I'm definitely a beginner and would like some feedback since I've basically dove headfirst into pixel art without knowing much about technique.  Everything I've seen in this thread has been pretty impressive.

Mmhmm.
