Hi,

Finally Taking Over The World is interactive fiction programmed in brainfuck. It is completely written by hand without the use of any compiler or the like (730 000 instructions, probably the largest brainfuck program ever written by hand).

The story is very simple. Retipuj wants to take over the world. To reach his target he wages a "cold" war against three lands he wants to win round. Whether he manages this or not depends on the numbers (between 0 and 255) the player enters to help him with his decisions. Examples for these are "How many satellites shall be constructed?", "How many employees shall be thrown overboard?" or "How many percent shall the silicone production be cut?". Sometimes the answers are obvious, sometimes they are mentioned by passing somewhere in the game. To conquer a land all the questions there have to be answered with the correct number. So the different paths come up leading to one of the 8 endings. At the beginning this will probably be the one where you gain nothing at all, but as time goes by you're getting the informations to finally take over the world.

I would be glad about some feedback. Important things I'd like to know:
- Is the English reasonable? Because it's not my native language (that's Luxembourgish, very small target audience^^).
- Should the texts/game be longer/shorter? Or is it coincidentally good?
- Did you find any "modified" quotes? I've put a few in it and I hope they aren't too hard to recognize. I guess the one on the screenshot is obvious Wink

Why in the world would someone expend that sort of energy like this? It's like shooting yourself in the foot, only with a bullet you packed yourself and only using a nail and hammer to fire the bullet. Sure it's impressive the way you hold the nail and bullet in one hand so you can swing the hammer with the other, even more impressive the little bulls-eye you painted on your shoe that you put the bullet right through the middle of from shoulders height without the use of a barrel. But in the end YOU'VE SHOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT!

It's like prolonged digital sadism. (Masochist like to hurt others.)

You must have used some sorta tool to convert strings into brainfuck print statements, at the very least Smiley

Anyway, I just have one question: why?

Nope, the only thing I did was changing the keyboard so that I had two keys writing five plus signs respectively five minus signs.

Anyway, I just have one question: why?
Why? Why do I get this question in every forum? To be honest, I don't know. There must be something fascinating about brainfuck only very few people can realize Wink
So, let's just call it: fate.

You did it for the challenge.

I'm still waiting on the person who'll make the Matrix code a real language.

OMG Awesome. I remember playing around in BF a while ago when I was going through a curious, if brief, eso-lang fascinaton. To do something of this scale in BF is... wow.

Can you do a platformer in Malbolge next?

That's what I get for thinking the information in my brain was infallible and not looking it up first.

Fortunately Masochism and Sadism are two words I hardly ever use. I just hope I haven't got any, like, more common words crossed.

Challenge? That's not a challenge for me :D

That's a challenge xD
But when I think about how 99 bottles of beer looks in Malbolge, no thanks Wink

But thanks for all the nice comments. I guess getting none and realizing what a waste of time that was could, after weeks of brainfuck programming, lead to irreparable psychological damages.

"The darn side of the sauce"? I suppose if you have to type in all pluses and minuses, your mind starts to come up with stuff like that.
