I've listened to both submissions a bunch of times, p sweet work so far. Both, at least to me, seem to reference some of our favorite game composers actually. kz012's tune has a Hibino Metal Gear vibe, and Calum's reminds me a lot of Sakimoto. I especially like how Calum played with dissonances between the bass and winds during the progression in the latter section of the tune.
Mine will be late. I'll post it anyway.

Unfortunately I'll miss it too, been attacked by a nasty flu and feeling quite dead atm. Listened to the tracks by Calum and kz012 and they friggin rock! Awesome work, really nice tunes. You really managed to create interesting songs even with the one note bass limitation, impressive.

Seeing I'm not the only one who's really swamped right now: looks like we should give this a few more days if Calum and kz012 agree.

I'm really interested in hearing what others are writing, so it's definitely not a problem for me. Anyone ask pgil?

Hey everyone! This is my first ever post on TIG! Awesome. It's been really exciting and inspiring to be flicking through all the forums and info on this site the past couple weeks. I only just discovered it! So far, everyone on here has been nothing but friendly and helpful, which is hard to come by these days...especially in forums where people feel the need to be complete jerks cause "they can".
That said, it has inspired me to push past my fears of judgement and try to move forward in the video game music realm. Some of the composers on here are absolutely amazing, and it really makes me want to get better. While relatively new to composing, the software I use, and the lack of time I had to work on it, I thought I'd post my short One-Note Bass-line song anyways. I would've liked to work on it a little more, but thems the breaks...
Started off as just the random bass-line, but soon turned into an intense "Hans Zimmer-ish" chase theme.
I'd love to hear what you think, (and of course if you like it, please feel free to support my new-found passion and purchase it)! I will be posting more songs soon...
Thanks for all the inspiration! I look forward to the next challenge!
You can find my submission here:

Enjoy!

3rd post! Ah!
Okay, now my face isn't there... I'm a crazy person.
Also, awesome posts so far! I obviously can't quite compare with the bar where it was placed, but this will not be the last of my talents! Oh yes. There will be more.

I deleted my post! I'm stupid!
Anyway, seems more than a few people would like the deadline extended, and I'm happy to oblige if it means more awesome music. New deadline is Tuesday, Feb 21 at 8pm.

Jack - Interesting use of contrasting devices in this! Gives it a very experimental sound. Noah! - Your track takes me back to the 80's. Great vibe! TheEnz - I like the way you built up the melody around the bassline.

Yay, I made it in time! This was a really a tricky challenge. After finding some harmonies and a melody that somehow work with the steady bass note and spreading them across a string section, I decided to go nuts with metal-ish drums and make as much noise as possible with wild filtering, distorted bass & guitars, bit reduction and choppy automation - to a point that I honestly can't say if it's enjoyable anymore, especially 'cause it's a really rough mix. Well, enough excuses, here's the music: "Shoot on Sight" on SoundCloudHope you like. Cheers

Where's your snare sample from?

Thanks! Addictive Drums, sampled off a Steve Ferrone signature snare by Pearl - a really punchy beast.

Time's up! Here's everything submitted: Frantic Fight by Calum Bowen Passing Through by kz012 Bassline Bombshell by Mat André fetter by Noah! Grinding by 0rel Broken Message by KomradeJack Shoot on Sight by MoritzPGKatz I'm going to give everything a proper critique/writeup/whatever once I've had more time to sit down and listen. Probably THursdaay. I'll also pick a "winner," the person who will host the next music challenge. There's so much good stuff here!
