Early Demo177 - The dreams of one man actually create a strange half-mad world of quasi-material substance in another dimension. Another man, also a dreamer, blunders into this world in a dream. What he finds. Intelligence of denizens. Their dependence on the first dreamer. What happens at his death. My goal is an atmospheric metroidvania. You're trapped in another man's dream, and the object is to wake up. It starts out as a pretty standard platformer, but as you advance, you gain the powers of lucid dreaming, and can alter the environment with the mouse. Sort of like a real-time version of the drawing system in Okami.

With only two weeks to make this, and final projects eating into my time, there's almost no way to finish this on time. I'll try to have something done by the deadline, though. Deadline is now Thanksgiving! Cool idea, too.

One of the ways you'll be able to alter your environment is through drawing platforms. Eventually, there will be some limit to this power, but for now, just have fun with it.

The CPB idea reminds me of Borges' The Circular Ruins.

You mean like Kirby: Canvas Curse?

Yeah, that's what I thought, but there may be more than just drawing paths to this...

I love the sprite. It gives me the urge to play more games where you stroll around with your hands in your pockets.

I never actually heard of that game before. But, yeah, the platform-creating mechanics will be somewhat similar. However, you will be able to do more with the mouse. For example, clicking on objects will have a variety of different effects. You'll need to experiment to find out what this does in different situations.

Looking pretty cute! Kind of reminds me of Super Metroid, that flora. Good fit, in my opinion.

Kirby Canvas Curse was brilliant. By association, this too will be brilliant.

There have been various Flash games that used the "drawing platforms" mechanic...But that's not a criticism, by all means I'm eager to see this finished! (Especially because the little trenchcoated guy is so awesome.)
