Finished 1984 and The Catcher in the Rye not long ago. Both very good books. Also reading A Clash of Kings atm.

I read 1984 pretty recently as well and I completely agree with you. I'm in the middle of reading Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Pretty decent so far

I'm reading Daniel Kahneman's Thinking Fast and Slow. It has been really interesting so far. Kind mind boggling to learn how much "flaws" our mind really has and all systematic errors they are prone to.
On programming literature I'm also wading through Clean Code by Robert C. Martin and Professional Javascript for Web Developers by Nicholas C. Zakas.
I also started Jack Vance's Dying Earth. It has been quite interesting. A bit more fairytale fantasy, kind of like Le Guinn's Earthsea series. Not sure yet if I'll read the rest of the series though.
EDIT: Finished Dying Earth. It was quite inspiring because of its fairytale style storytelling. Maybe something I could use in my games in future.

People also recommend the dark tower series, but I heard the ending is a terrible copout. I don't know how I feel about reading seven books that build up to nothing. I don't read a lot of stephen king. it's not really worth it, no. the ending that starts with an apology from the author for how unsatisfying and predictable it is, which is not really very helpful to the reader.

Right now I'm reading Matt Barton's Desktops and Dungeons. It (the history of CRPGs) is really rather interesting although the print quality is quite bad. All the images are black and white and very dark.

Enders Game. Didn't really know anything about it except I saw it at the library and knew the name.
It was overall really good and a small portion of it was exceptional. Really good book. Wasn't what I expected going it, in a good way.
About to start reading Usagi Yojimbo. Some sort of rabbit samurai graphic novel. I was walking through the city the other day, walked into a comic store, bought that and another book called Gendel which I haven't read yet.

I am finishing to read Les Dames du Graal (Ladies of the Grail) by Jean Markale, a must read if you want to understand clearly the role of the different female characters in the Matter of Britain.

Half way through the 'Witch of Portobello' by Paulo Coelho though may put it down for 'My Inventions and Other Writings' - a book about Nikola Tesla. A great inspiring guy. Look him up:-)

An 80's kid with a lot of love for the games and their soundtracks. I hope to one day build an epic soundtrack such as that of Zelda, Shenmu or Sonic that immerse the player into the world I enjoyed as a kid:-)
