Huh. Putting the out-of-character screen up front is a pretty interesting idea. Thanks allen!

WOW "Ted" isn't short for Theodore is it? If anyone's interested I'm now blogging regularly about Captain Jameson. Apologies for the linkspam, but I figured some folks might want to know about it.

Rad! The blog looks really cool! Ted is short for Theodore. And Pro is short for a very long Greek last name. But I think I might run out of screen space if I tried to spell it all out.

Why is it (c) 1990? And why does it say it's his first game? I am confused. How is this a new game?

its not true, its just faux-information in the same vein as the rest of his captain forever website is.

A pretty funny joke, but too long and repetitive for how small of a gag it is.
Still, free though, and nice lowrez interpretations of all the Captain Forever stuff.

The controls weren't always responsive. Sometimes I pressed a directional key and the ship didn't move in that direction immediately, even though the game runs perfectly smooth. Still fun little timewaster though.

That's weird Melly. Maybe the CPU hogging synth routine is causing a ruckus on your system? It's hard to tell really. Sorry about that.
I'm never sure whether I should post CF updates to this thread or not. I'd feel a bit like I was pimping, which really isn't in the spirit of the forum. I guess I would be pimping too. I do really appreciate the feedbackin though.
This is Captain Farbs' first game, which is what the (c)1990 and note about it being a first game is about. Capt Farbs is the guy piloting the ship in Captain Forever, but thanks to all the free time he gets due to good folk like you flying his ship for him, he was able to make a videogame.
It's kind of half gag, half game I wanted to make because I hoped it'd be fun. I think Geothermal's right though that it gets a bit repetitive. After Captain Jameson launches I might (or might not) think about making a sequel.

I love that it's called Captain ForAXIAN and you called it a GALAGA homage.

Yeah, I like Galaga a lot more. It wasn't an amazing shmup, but it was one of the originals, it has a great, classic atmosphere that I can't help but love, and it has a little more depth than a lot of its contemporaries because of being able to rescue captured ships for DOUBLE SHOT POWER. PEW-PEW PEW-PEW PEW-PEW!
But the more varied and random nature of the enemies in this is definitely more reminiscent of Galaxian. Also the way the ship looks is sort of a similar, Captain Forever ship approximation of the Galaxian ship.
