I've been thinking quite a bit lately about what games would be created by some of my favorite writers, directors, artists, etc. Generally just people who don't work in the industry. Who do you guys think would make interesting games?
I think it would be particularly interesting to see Mark Danielewski make something. Anyone who can make house of leaves can probably create some adequately fucked up games.

Throughout my childhood I really wanted to play a video game based on a Miyazaki film. So when "Ni no Kuni" was announced I felt like my childhood dream had finally come true.

I'd like to see what sort of game Antoine de Saint-Exupéry or George Orwell would make. I bet Shakespeare would make one hell of a game. ...this is a very interesting question.

Although Miyazaki himself isn't involved in the project; he really dislikes video games.

Artist Brian Froud, Mary Blair (Although the new Epic Mickey game tries to incorporate her style sometimes)

David Lynch. He'd make some amazing puzzle games, I'm sure!

Although Miyazaki himself isn't involved in the project; he really dislikes video games. I know, but I don't really mind... I'm more excited about the idea of exploring a world that looks like the films (and I also love Joe Hisaishi's music). As a little girl I always fantasized about being in that world (I lived in Tokorozawa when I was young, which is the town they say Totoro came from)... all the kids in that town would hope to meet Totoro whenever we were taken to the forest for hikes So I guess playing Ni no Kuni would be the closest thing to being in that world, haha.

Niel Gaiman or Kafka. I was gonna say Douglas Adams, but then I looked behind me and saw my copy of Starship Titanic.

I have that game! I still need to rig my laptop to play it, but I was so happy when I found it at a Half-Price Books.
I would've loved to see a Satoshi Kon game, it could've easily topped Killer7 in terms of beautiful insanity. I'd love to see Pixar branch out into games- I always imagine it a bit like the Kingdom Hearts team-up, except that Pixar writes a totally original story.

Why are you guys still replying? This thread ended back here. But really, he was starting to get involved in computers near the end of his life. It's unlikely that he would have, but I like to think that, were he alive today, he'd be making games (and not games in his later styles, which are nowhere near as interesting as his surrealism phase).
