Throughout my childhood I really wanted to play a video game based on a Miyazaki film. So when "Ni no Kuni" was announced I felt like my childhood dream had finally come true.
They kind of did back in 1990 with Crystalis. I played the game before watching the movies NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind and Castle in The Sky. What I found is pretty much some almost blatant themes pulled right from the movies when I watched them. There's a poisonious swamp that you can't breathe in where you have to fight giant insects. There's an empire trying to get to a castle in the sky to use it for their own power. There's a few other things but I'm creeping into spoiler territory already. Needless to say Crystalis was probably highly influenced by the two movies. But yeah, Ni no Kuni is probably better, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. One day. :D

Roger Dean. Except, according to his old website, he already has worked on games, although I've had trouble finding out much about the games or his role on them. Although he may or may not have had a hand in an early JRPG... Anyway, Grant Morrison.

Anyway, Grant Morrison. Oh yes, yes, yes. Take my money. He's written some amazing comics, but his last few years on Batman have been nothing short of a miracle in storytelling. He'd probably be insanely great at telling interactive stories.

Alan Moore?
*edit I just realized there is a few games based off the Watchmen, but I don't think any with Moore's direct hand in.

Alejandro Jodorowsky. Also John Cage, but he's dead. Shame really, I bet he'd show all them art game kiddies how it's done.

Me, Just can't seem to finish one at the moment?!
Do Indie game developers get Writers Block?
Although it could be a 'Paralysis by Analysis' wanting a better game!
Anyway what about...
Einstein that would be trippy!

I would love to see a game with a world crafted by Zdzislaw Beksinski. I would shit myself for days.
My gods, my pants just imploded from this thought alone. I really can't think of a gameplay gimmick worthy of such atmosphere, but being absorbed in such an environment in an interactive fashion alone is worthy enough to make a game around it. On top of my mind I can only think on an exploration desolate desert sort of game, kind of like what thatgamecompany is doing now. Just for the sake of conversation, imagine this painting as concept art for the game. Assuming that the lantern guy is the player, what would the game be about?

Hm, lots.
Akira Kurosawa - Creator of Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, and Hidden Fortress. Why aren't there more samurai games? George RR Martin, Robin Hobb, and Patrick Rothfuss - All incredible fantasy writers. Neal Stephenson - I'd love to see a cyberpunk game with a setting like Snowcrash or the Diamond Age. Stanley Kubrick - As mentioned above, the director of 2001 and Dr Strangelove. Sergio Leone + Clint Eastwood with music by Ennio Morricone to make the most badass western game ever. Joss Whedon - A Firefly game would be cool Edgar Allen Poe Christopher Nolan
Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.
That game would be freaking awesome. I imagine something sort of like Shadow of the Colossus.

Isn't George RR Martin working as creative director on an original fantasy mmo? I know A Game Of Thrones is being adapted into an rts, but I swear I remember reading something about it.

Edgar Allen Poe
There was an adventure game based off of a few of his stories, it's called The Dark Eye.

There was a Watchmen tabletop rpg that he wrote some content for, but I don't think that counts. A Miracleman or Swamp Thing game would be sick.

It'd be sweet if Dan McPharlin made a game. I would explore the FUCK out of this world.
