Hello!

We've been working on our game Machete for the past year now, and we're looking to get a bit of feedback on how the game plays. It's a wacky 2D platformer that focuses on exploration. The demo contains the full first level. It's built with Flixel with AIR, so you need to runtime to run the game. Get the game here!

Keyboard controls are:

WASD/Arrow keys: Movement
Numpad 2 / Z: Jump
Numpad 1 / X: Jetpack
Numpad 5 / X: Fire
Numpad 4 / V: Action (used to drop checkpoints/enter houses)


Xbox 360 controller controls are:

Left Analog Stick / D-Pad: Movement
A: Jump
Right Trigger: Jetpack
X: Fire
B: Action (used to drop checkpoints/enter houses)


The checkpoints are the bonfires you pick up. You have 15 seconds (indicated by the checkpoint turning black and white) to drop it (using the action button) or else it will be dropped where you're currently standing.

This looks like a decent run-of-the-mill Metroidvania. I'm not sure if those are placeholder sound effects but I think it can be improved by browsing freesound.org. I don't know why the bigger white ghost kills himself at the spikes but keep up the good work!
