Yeah, I'd agree with that, actually. My bad. Something like this, then? The blouse thing isn't too too long, but long enough to stand out and look fantastic. I'm not that great a spriter, though, so feel free to work your own magic and that and edit it however you wish.

Oh boy, that's sweet. He does look rather cool! And I love the Scythe turning - makes him seem controlled, but absolutely itching to maim something.
How are we on movement? I'm thinking he should avoid running like those other chumps. Should either be Walking at his own pace or Teleporting. Whaddya think?

Walking slowly would probably be best. It would look hardcore and add some variety.

It can't be too slow, though. Otherwise, players will just teleport around all the time.

Not if there's enough lag after the teleportation.

Right. But if we're just making Cabadath slow in general, he will be frustrating to play as.

Only if his attacks are weak. Plus his attacks are fast enough. It would be like jigglypuff but way more hardcore.

I think he could just have a fast paced stroll. I always found I crazy character in a stroll mad him that more freaky. Average speed to cross small distances where the start up lag of teleport would make pointless.

No, playing slow characters is frustrating. Balance is irrelevant; it makes the player feel as if he has little control over the character.

Mmmm, I know it's a tad different, but have ye ever played Guilty Gear? Potemkin, now there's a great fighter. Huge, slow and totally lethal. It can work.
We will, of course, have to see Cabadath in action before we make judgements such as this. Just putting it out there.

Street fighter 3 too. In particular Q, one of my better characters, and Hugo.

There's a difference between being slow and being sloooooow. Astaroth may be slower than the other characters in soul calibur, but he's still not all that slow.
Plus, speed is more important in a platformer/fighter than in a traditional fighter.
Bowser is about as slow as you can get before problems start coming up.

He should be able to teleport without attacking and having such a huge end lag.
He'd still get some lag, but not so much that you'd always get hit if the enemy isn't stunned or anything.

Again, Jigglypuff has the slowest walking speed in the game but he still appears as a fast character due to his attacks. Walking speed doesn't affect it as much as you would think.

I think slow but not too slow seems like a good enough goal; however, one should make sure that he isn't that much slower than whichever "Bowser Sized" characters are eventually added.

Hmm, I think they're not the best examples, since both Hugo and Q are quiet weak if you compare them to the other character (also according to the tier-lists), but indeed slower characters can be done nicely, like Zangief in SFIV for example.

Yes but most people don't play by tiers and there are several amazing Hugo and Q players who can best most people.

It does when there are powerful ranged attackers like Liero and Iji. The Dwarf (speed 5) is about as slow as you can get without ranged characters having too great an advantage.
