It won't help. Wii U will own, no matter how much you bash it.

It needs flair. Too bad calling it "(something) Nintendo Entertainment System" doesn't quite work anymore.
-The Famicom (or Nintendo) Future/Joy/Hyper/Excite/Wake. Being overtly Japanese is part of Nintendo's charm. People like SUPERMEGAULTRAFANTASTIC in a title. That being said, it seems they're trying to be an Apple-clone. Everything is white, simple and clean, and caters to as large a demographic as possible.. the name "Wii-U" follows that trend. I'd rather see the red shade from the original Famicom and tons of hardcore third party games.

They'll be an Apple clone when they start using metal and glass instead of plastic. Imagine the casualties that would occur if the Wiimote followed Apple's design standards.

Pretty much. I'm not saying it's necessarily a good idea, just exemplifying that those days are over. Of course, poor sales had less to do with what the console actually looked like than the other factors. In this case, the name Famicom alone wouldn't mean much to the soccer-mom demographic, but it wouldn't offend them either; it might vaguely intrigue some old fans, stir conversation, even with the modern Wii design.

And yet, they would be in the Wii U. I'm sure the name could include Famicom and still not sound ridiculous. Not that it matters much.

And yet, they would be in the Wii U.
It is important not to make the same mistake that Sony did. After two successful generations of console dominance, they assumed their brand recognition would carry them through a third cycle. They were wrong. It would be extremely foolish of Nintendo to think that they can replicate the success of the Wii, simply by releasing its successor. As powerful a brand as the Wii represents, it is no guarantee of success. Sony and Microsoft's reluctance to jump the gun on the next hardware cycle is going to place Nintendo in an awkward position, and seriously hamper early progress for the Wii U. I do not think the Wii U is going to be flying off of shelves early on the way the Wii did. The current circumstances are just far too different.

yeah i dont think the decision to make the wii u a "semi-next-gen" console was very good. i think a lot of the wii's initial success was based on the motion control hype and the then mostly untapped market of casual console games.
