Not future agj, retro future.  That's why the 80's sounding-ness was/is OK.

Right, but to get 'retrofuture' you need both 'retro' and 'future', and my point was that I didn't see the 'future' part in those. Regarding Helvetica, it's honestly used for everything, so it lacks any character you may want to apply to it. Maybe you're thinking International Typographic Style, but I still wouldn't call it 'futuristic'.

By the way, I got Space Channel 5 Special Edition for the PS2 recently.
