Where should I start looking for a online payment system where once a user pays their account is given full access to the game? Basically exactly like the payment system in minecraft.net .

Try going here. (if you don't show that you've done some looking yourself, don't expect people to go out on a limb with suggestions).

That what was i initially thought but then i realized he mentioned that he wants to give access to some service/site instead of selling a program. Do these services support such uses?

You also have the option of applying to Steam. Of course, that means that you would have to give up a certain percentage of your profits. The question to ask is whether or not the potential marketing and customer base Steam would provide would offset the lost revenue. Payment systems are always a matter of balancing trade-offs.

Mostly the fact that BMT have phone support for customers and FastSpring do not. Plus I have a very good, longstanding relationship with BMT. Some customers simply will not buy from a company that they cannot, if they needed to, speak to on the phone. There are enough online scams that this doesn't surprise me. As I understand it BMT can provide payment systems for ongoing subscriptions and services. they are also highly flexible when it comes to getting client-specific stuff done, in my personal experience.

thanks, good to know. although, come to think of it, you yourself don't have a phone line that customers can call, do you? i don't. but i mean, if i were buying a game and concerned about phone support, i'd rather have phone support from the company making and selling the game than from their payment processor.
in any case i do like bmt-micro a lot, the only reason i prefer fastspring is because it allows an option for the user to pay what they want for a game, and currently my game is pay what you want. with bmt-micro that's harder to set up (if not impossible?).

Heh, almost seems like you took offense to cliffski's preference, Paul. A video game and a continuous service that assists people with their income are two completely different things.

what, no i think it's a fine preference, i was more just idly wondering if it'd be a good idea to offer phone service to customers. i doubt too many people would take advantage of it, so offhand i don't really see a reason not to offer our phone numbers to customers. maybe i'll try it in the future.
but what made you think i had taken offense? i've used bmt for many years and i've had no problems with them, it's just that they don't offer one particular thing that i found useful.

From what they tell me, they do support this, but currently you have to ask them to set it up, its not vendor-configurable yet

I've not used FastSpring before, but looking at their site I like their setup and range of options. Has anyone had any bad experiences with them that I should know about? I might switch over to them as I'm fed up with the Share*It interface.

oh, i forgot to mention one thing: fastspring pays me through paypal, and i believe bmt-micro still only does checks (or bank transfers at an additional charge or something? unless they added it?), and i kind of prefer the instantness of paypal
but again either one is great, i used bmt-micro for 3 years and had no problems, so it's solid, it's just that fastspring seems slightly more modern and i like its feature set so far after trying them out for a month

If so, how much does PayPal charge for this?
