So, I haven't made a game in *forever*. Well, I haven't released a game in forever. I enjoy putting stuff out, getting feedback, etc.
I've been mindlessly developing this game alongside my 'big' project for about a week or so -- Kind of something I do to blow off steam when I get frustrated with my current project.

It's made in Game Maker, and by no means is this game meant to be taken seriously. The code is messy, the graphics are sub-par, and there are absolutely no sound effects.
With that said, with some feedback and suggestions I want to evolve this into a kind of matchbox of random sloppy fun over time.

Again, it's made in Game Maker-- and I didn't disable default stuff.
ESC to quit the game at any moment
F1 to bring up 'Game Information' (AKA a blank page)
F4 to fullscreen(recommended)
F5/F6 to save/load the game(default GM save state system)
F9 to take a huge bitmap screenshot of the game(not recommended)

The actual game's controls amount to:
Z - Attack
X - Flamethrower(lolwut??)
Arrow Keys - Movement

Cute little game you got there. Is the flamethrower supposed to take up some MP? 'cos its kinda overpowered XD. Its difficult to see the green blob in the grass too.

The flamethrower needs to shoot in four directions at once.

It's diverting.  I sort of like the aesthetic when it's fullscreen and blurry.  The green enemies are craftily camouflaged.  The flamethrower is powerful.  The only way to kill the green guys is to flame them out of the arena?

Very nice little game, love the retro-esque graphics. If you whacked a story and a larger map on there, you'd have a pretty neat game.

Couple of nitpicks though - the circular shapes used for the flames look a bit out of places with the rest of the graphics. I don't quite know why, but it looks a bit too smooth in comparison with everything else. Also, the window size (not fullscreen) makes it really hard to see the enemies, in particular the one that's essentially a black dot.

Was quite fun to play though Smiley

@increpare
It takes 5 hits to kill the slimes, but that numbers decreases as you level up.

@everyone
The flamethrower was basically a joke.

I think I'm going to go for, in all seriousness, 4 different characters with (slightly) varying abilities. Sort of like a castle crashers thing, but less cool.
I'm thinking about basing the game on defending a castle. I dunno, I'm just doing w/e lol.

Vote: Black outline on the slimes, or not? I think it's kind of cool that they have the not-so-intended camouflage ability, personally. What do you guys think?

Before and After.

Just a small preview of what's to come.

That last sprite is a possibility, I'm still thinking about it.
