this looks great, QOG. loving the protagonist's design. really dislike the tiling and protagonist/chest sprites. enemies are pretty good. the green area is an improvement

That looks really cool, but i'm not sure it fits with the style of the game.
It gives the impression that the guys you are playing as are really tiny, seeing as the building in the background is so large compared to them.

I agree, the background is lovely but it clashes with the foreground. The foreground looks flat and blocky in a good way, but when contrasted with a nicely painted organic backdrop, it looks flat and blocky in a bad way. I think if the background portrayed a whole landscape, rather than individual trees and buildings, that contrast would be lessened; it would be believable that the landscape would be constructed of the blocky stuff if it was viewed closer. If you see what I mean. Just to repeat the first point though, it is a tasty painting

Hahaha, I know it'll likely be lower on-screen when in-game but I always want to show what's going on inside the walls etc. Maybe it's just constructed in a way that means the walls facing the camera are suspiciously lower Seriously though, cheers for the crit; I really need to work on that... Cheers for the kind feedback guys, the scale is out and the terrain could probably do with being blockier but I'll wait to see how it looks in motion for a bit before making too many drastic changes.

That castle is built on a very steep hill. I don't see the problem. It looks like a 10th century viking fort or something. It's quite cool.
