Hi, I'm not sure if it's the right place to post this announce about my project because it's not a game project. So feel free to move it in an appropriate place, and also thank you for doing so.

Back on topic.

I've been working on this project about digital comics (or not comics) for some time and it's not finished at all, but I recently took the time to setup the website and put in lot of explanations of what the project is about. I know lot of people around here love webcomics so I think that might be of interest to some people of this community.

I'm opening the website live just right now :

http://artofsequence.org

From the website :

Quote from: ArtOfSequence.org

What is AOS?

Art Of Sequence (AOS) is a project gathering several tools, each one targeting at different people but all helping to allow artists to create and publish “digital media sequences”.

For example : http://catsuka.com/turbomedia/about_digital_comics_balak_en.html

Here “digital sequences” means any sequence of media used as digital-native narrative, exploiting (or not) the digital nature of those media, for example to allow interactions, animations or audio where needed. The main inspirations are Turbo-Media experiments that you can see there : http://www.catsuka.com/turbomedia/

Click here to see a big diagram explaining the project : http://artofsequence.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/AOSOverview.png

The AOS projects currently in development targets different users:

AOS Designer : a digital sequence montage tool. It allow artists to mount and edit digital sequences. Once edition is done, a project can be exported to different formats, for example as an HTML5 web page, or as a custom format for a mobile player. More infos…

Exporters : tools that convert digital sequences from AOSL to a specific format that can be read by a specific player, like…

AOS Web Player : an HTML5-based digital sequence player. It’s the basic player that we provide, allowing artists to show their digital sequences on a web page. More infos…

AOSL : an XML-based language used to describe digital sequences in an abstract way. It is the language that bind them all. All projects works by manipulating or interpretting AOSL files. More infos…

And other projects used for tools and players development. Developers can for example use AOSLCPP library (c++)  to build native tools and players for different platforms like IOS, Android, Windows, MacOSX, Linux…

First, I'm not a native english speaker please point me anywhere in the projects description I wrote something that is not english.

Second, any comment on the website or on the project itself is welcome.

Third, I'm looking for contributions to help the project. It will soon get to a stable base state and I'm open to help on the several fronts of developments.

So... that's all, thanks for reading and I'm waiting for feedbacks. Smiley

More infos in this blog article: http://artofsequence.org/?p=236

I'm looking for people interested in the subject and who knows JavaScript and/or C++ and/or Qt to help with the multiple projects.

Why it take so long to be released ?
You should pick a team sometimes.

Why it take so long to be released ?

Because it's not 1 project but 8, with different programming languages and opposite purposes. (note that 3 of the projects first versions have been released already, see the previous messages - if you're talking about the editor, then remember that the other projects need to be done first)

And the team is only me, not full time.

Also, it's apparently really "bleeding-edge" way of thinking, so not everybody understand what it is.

It's an open source project, anyone can help if he wants. It's not me not picking a team, there is not team to be picked, unfortunately. There are some people in the mailing list that are getting interested in it (a forum will be setup soon).

If you know people who wants to help, be my guess and point them to the project. If they have questions, just give them my contact or point them somewhere I'm looking at.

Another quick update: I simplified and clarified all the website texts. If people can check if it's clear and not confusing, It would be very helpful!
