Over the weekend I worked on the first draft of the character for my game, "Charisma the (Space) Chameleon." She's made in Blender, using rigging for the legs and tail, and morph targets for the blinking.

In the game she shrinks (forever) to navigate a maze. The game infinitely zooms in!

Here's a gif of the gameplay:

I tried to upload that one to Imgur but it converted it to a video so I can't post it. Sorry for link spam.

Any feedback on her animation? I'm very proud of her but it's still just a first draft.

The jumping seems stiff, but I'm liking the model itself.

This looks super cute! The graphics are kind of dated but in a good way, reminds me of the Nintendo days. Hopefully that means you're also focusing on gameplay?

I'm really intrigued by the shrinking mechanic. Sort of a reverse katamari thing. It hurts my brain to think about...again in a good way. One of the more innovative ideas I've seen in a while. Exciting stuff!

I agree, if I have time I want to make her legs bend as she lands.

It's funny you mention that, I'm specifically aiming for the quality of the N64 days. I think the quality of web games has yet to live up to the high craftsmanship of the technology that existed 10-20 years ago!

If you want to sign up for email updates (am I allowed to post links?), I just finished setting up the homepage at http://charismachameleon.com. Working on a demo soon!

#ScreenshotSaturday!  Smiley I'm working on level backgrounds now as well as other features.

What do you think?

Here's one of the backgrounds above:

One more screenshot, it's starting to get a little more "game-y" now:

My hope is that with more puzzle/physics elements, level design will be easier and more creative.
