Hello TIGSource! This is my fist post here, but I have been reading this site for years, and probably playing many of your games.
Almost two years ago, I received $375 funding for Commander^3 on Kickstarter. Two months later, I released an early version of this game and it was... er... not very good.
Well, I decided that my investors deserved better, so I spent some time developing, testing, optimizing, and balancing what I believe to be a much higher quality game built on the same fundamental ideas as the original.
I made nearly every game asset and composed the music by myself, with some creative guidance from friends on the art direction and story.
Commander^3 will be free to play, mod, and distribute as you please.
It is a physics-driven action-RPG with Roguelike elements. The Dark Wizard has cursed a 2-D video game fantasy kingdom to become 3-D.
Randomly, the Dark Wizard will pop out of a chest and randomize your race and class. You must make the best of whatever you get until you find him again. Each race and class can be leveled up separately.
The core game will have 100 dungeon maps, but the player can keep playing against increasingly tougher foes in a looping "new game +". This trailer only shows one enemy type and two maps. The final game will have 5 bosses, 5 map types, and a castle-building interface to level up the player.
I would say the game is about 80% complete. I will try to put on the finishing touches before the end of the month, but it might spill over into April. I will be launching a domain at the same time.
