Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney + Tetris
Figure out the exact series of events that led to a specific block pattern being built, and prove it.

Tetris + Gears of War
Cover-based shooter where one player is in charge of airdropping blocks onto the battlefield. However, if a horizontal line of a particular length is completed, it disappears, so an important offensive strategy is eliminating the opponents' cover by completing lines.

Gears of War + Dig DugBurrow into the earth and freely carve out tunnels as you root out the entrenched Locust soldiers. On another note, but somewhat inspired by the "Tetris + Gears of War":

Rhythm + LemmingslikeParades of musical notes with legs march mindlessly across the screen, like Lemmings or Chus. Instead of an "exit", there is an "amplifier", and when notes move past it, the corresponding sound is played. The goal is to manipulate the environment so that note parades pass through amplifiers in the right combination and rhythm to play a song. Dig Dug + Rhythm
Dig on the beat. Some tiles may have a different cadence than others.
Would play.

Is there a set song or does it just have to be to a set tempo?

Lemmings + Virtual Pet
Instead of one pet, you have a flock or colony that you have to keep in motion and out of danger, while feeding them and cleaning their poop. Like a cross between an ant farm and one of those hamster tubes that goes all around a small urban apartment.

Hmmm. Depends on the level? In many levels, the main constraint on a good output is tempo, and we use pentatonic scales that don't allow harmonic mistakes. If you're going through a "song pack" (like classic tunes, or licensed tracks) the goal is to actually get the song to come out right.

Virtual Pet + Ball/Paddle Game
In the center of the screen is your pet. You control a paddle (a la Pong, Breakout, Arcanoid), in a circular track around the pet. Various foods, drinks, and other items are shooting past, some in an intersecting trajectory with the pet, some not. Your job is to selectively deflect items to your pet, or away from it, enough to keep it fed & hydrated but not too much.
The items the pet consumes determines their evolution, like if you feed it lots of vegetables it'll evolve towards a gentle herbivore, whereas lots of meat creates a predator, and lots of fish will evolve it into an aquatic creature.

"Mortal Kombat Flight"? I dig it. On that note...
Combat Flight Sim + Sim City
Two players, asymmetric. Avoid AA, find the capitol and bomb it.

That'd be really great. (I'm picturing supernatural shrines deep underground, burial grounds, power nexuses, Lovecraftian evils, etc. that effect the buildings you build on top of them.) Minesweeper + ProteusThere are elements of various types (positive, negative, and neutral) beneath the hidden tiles. But in the revealed tiles, there are no numbers. You can only move an avatar around and listen; each element contributes to the soundtrack according to the inverse of its distance from the avatar.

Proteus + The Fool's ErrandProcedurally generated puzzles... the story is always the same, but the puzzle that you must solve to uncover this story are freshly generated for every play. The Fool's Errand is an older game, but it's a puzzle game with many different kinds of puzzles: http://www.thefoolandhismoney.com/01-the-fools-errand/index.htm

The Fool's Errand + SokobanPush around letters to complete words within a word find. The words that you complete fill in blanks to tell the story of your journey, and give you further hints about what other kinds of words to look for in the next puzzle. P.S. Inspired to bump this thread in response to MiniLD #67's theme: Classic Mash Remix.

Sokoban + Water Levelhttps://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=54569The game is 3D. Some blocks now float at different heights and not all blocks are cubes, some are taller, some are wider. Meaning if you want to move a block on the second height of the game, you have to mind tall blocks from the layer below. The guy is a scuba diver, of course.
