Hi,

I'm one of these game developers that didn't create many games, because a long time ago I made the classic mistake --- I started to create my own engineSmiley For what it's worth, the game engine I created is actually quite cool (after many years of work:). It's Castle Game Engine, and you're welcome to check it out. The programming language is somewhat non-standard --- I use modern Object Pascal. Still trying to persuade everyone that modern Object Pascal is unlike the Pascal you learned in school long time ago --- modern Pascal has classes, generics, modern library, it's type-safe and ultra fast (compiled to native code), in general quite like C++.

I'm somewhat an open-source fanatic, so my engine works on Linux, and of course Windows, Mac OS X, FreeBSD... We also support mobiles (Android, iOS), a web plugin (although only using deprecated NPAPI model for now). Over the years, we added support for many model formats, gfx effects, and can probably be used to create any 2D or 3D game:)

Anyhow... about the games I created --- not much, and most of them we're demos of the engine. Probably the largest one was the old The Castle, but the graphics look rather old now:) In later times, I was enjoying taking part in weekend gamejams at a place I worked, and I managed to create a few small playable games there, like Darkest Before the Dawn.

Nowadays, since 2016, I realized my dream (well, half of it) --- I'm working full-time on my engine and on games using it. We're working with a friend (graphics guy) to create some cool Android games, we'll announce them here when ready:) You can get a contact with us on Cat-astrophe Games page. I'm still an open-source fanatic, so the games are based on my open-source engine, and a generally-usable code from them gets in the engine always:)

Hm, as for the games I personally like --- it started as DOS games, mostly RPG (playing "Wizardry 7" for half a year in school was one of the best life experiences!:), then a little 3D and FPS games. Nowaways, I switch between playing various indie stuff on Steam, and trying to find good games on Android. I still believe that Android can be a host for deep, interesting, innovative games. It's a shame that the mobile games market is full of poor cheap knockoffs. Anyhow, maybe we'll change it one day:)

Hello,

I don`t make/create anything, just like to ramble (like my namesake) about videogames. This place seems like a nice mix of various styles, predominantly indie but without the insufferable pretentiousness that often comes bundled with the genre, so I thought I`d give it a go.

I often come across as an obnoxiously opinionated git, but that`s never fueled by malice, always by passion for the medium - so please bear that in mind if you ever feel the urge to bash the monitor after reading my post ;)

Hello,

My name is Matt, I'm a Disney trained artist and animation major. I have a lot of knowledge in business and finance so I started up my own company to develop games. Our team developed an IP that managed to raise $17k on Kickstarter. We're good at visual development and asset creation. Currently we're working on another IP we're developing into a game.

I've been playing games since I was about 3 years old, my favorite being Paper Mario for the N64. Since then I've always had an interest in games, so I'm using my background in art, animation, and business to pursue creating stories on this wonderful medium!

I look forward to seeing what everyone here has to offer!

I've been lurking for a long time on this forum, generally being inspired by devlogs, mockups and screenshots. I decided to register as I wanted to start keeping my own devlog of the thing I am currently working on.

I'm not a proper gamedev my any means. I'm a scientist in my dayjob, so do quite a lot of coding for that, but that is an entirely different and messier beast than game development. I've been involved in a few mod projects when I was younger, generally as a 3d guy. That was all a long time ago and as with a lot of mod projects, most failed! This did teach me some stuff about project development. I also couldn't code in those days. I'm a lot happier now I feel somewhat self sufficient.

I'd been thinking about trying my hand at game development for a while (despite having a few ideas, I could never bring myself to re-enter the modding scene) so this winter I decided to make an effort to get over the initial hurdle. I really enjoy it and am often more compelled to keep chipping away at making something of my own than to fire up a game.

So, hallo!

Hi

I'm Roman, Computer Science student from Germany. Also former librarian, tall guy, swimmer, and someone who is making games in his free time, mostly as a programmer.

I am interested in most genres and types of games, as long as there is something new and/or interesting to try out. All-time favorites include We Love Katamari, World of Goo, Bastion and Zatacka. Also, I grew up with Super Nintendo RPGs and have been known to overstate how great those were. If that is even possible.

I like all kindsof games ... except strategy games! : p

My favorite games are Final Fantasy VIII, Metal Gear Solid 2, Street Fighter II, Dark Souls 3, The Witcher 3... but indie games are Ori and The Blind Forest, Shovel Knight and The Banner Saga.

Hello everyone!

My name is Piotr and I'm a (born) programmer. I created a few simple games in my childhood (mainly for DOS). After that I started studies, then worked a few years (as a vfx / renderer / engine / tools programmer), then decided to start a gemedev life on my own.

Together with my brother we founded the TwoMammoths company. Now we make our first game Archaica: The Path Of Light (I'm going to post a devlog soon).

In private life I have two wonderful daughters (and a wonderful wife of course Smiley ). I love C++, retro games (especially strategy), sci-fi and lego classic-space. And my english is not very good ;P (as you can see)

Kind Regards

Visual Artist

Hi!

My name's Alessio Saturno and i'm a videogame enthusiast, like everyone here, i believe.
Actually, i'm an amateur visual artist and animator who would like to enter the professional route, but the main problem is that i'm still unemployed because my own country, Italy, isn't a very good place where to have a good career in the visual art field (and pretty much nowhere, unfortunately) and there are very few places where you can do art for a living. Anyway, visual art is my strong point.

I've decided to make a game with Game Maker: Studio, after seeing how some some people have made a very good quality game with a tool like that. Since i've always dreamed making my own 2D retro game, i've decided to take this route, while looking for a part-time job in order to sustain myself (in Italy, even finding a decend job that lets you do other activities in peace is friggingly hard Angry) and while i get better in my own artistic tecniques (cartoons are my strong points but i'm still a beginner in realistic comic inking but i'm improving).

I've decided to join this forum because i believe i can get various feedbacks regrading game developing in small scale and because i can ask some questions regrading game development in general, if i feel the need.
Then, since i use Game Maker: Studio, i may ask for some advices since the GMC community is closed for maintenance ( Lips Sealed) and i've realized the Game Maker's Reddit board isn't very practical to use.
I'm still a beginner but i hope to learn to make something presentable as soon as possible.

My favorite game genre is the platformer! I've always wished to make my own platformer! Games like Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64 were my girlfriends when i was a child  Kiss Kiss Kiss but i love action adventure games as well. Nintendo games are my favorites but i love other games from other systems as well.
I've never been in love for RPGs, especially the turn based ones, but there are peculiar things i liked a lot. Also racing games aren't my favorites, if there isn't "Mario Kart" written in it. But i loved TrackMania so much, you could make your own tracks, but i lost interest even because of lack of a solid community.
I absolutely hate first person games, especially if they're shooters. Metroid Prime may be the best game ever but the fact that it's first person made me refuse it  Sad

I also don't like the route most AAA companies took with their games. I'd like to see something fresh instead of seeing the next Assassin's Creed over 9000 (i hated AC Unity). And i'm not even attempting to act like an elistis, i'd just like to see a fresh and genuine game, whether it's indie or not. I feel that, even if Nintendo has been a bit in decline, they've never made something utterly disappointing like many other companies did multiple times.

And that's my introduction!! I hope i've never been too invasive!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been looking for a game dev community to get involved with and I was suggested here from Indie Dev Hour on Twitter.

I’m a professional programmer however game dev is actually very new to me.

I get involved with many game making jams and have come top in the 100 Ludum Dare games more times than I can remember.

I have absolutely zero artistic skill so it would be good for me to get to know some artiest around here.

You can see some of my games on my personal website: www.davetech.co.uk

I'm Mike.  Been watching these forums for a few years since Hammerwatch lured me here, and finally decided to sign up.

By day I'm a programmer specializing in not specializing, although I due tend to appreciate putting time into a good UI.

Gamedev-wise (aka by night), I've done a bunch of Ludum Dares and a ton of prototypes, but nothing released yet.  Hoping that the dungeon crawler I'm working on now can hold my interest long enough... but we'll see.

That's about enough for now, I think...

My name's Chris. There's really not much to tell. I've been an indie game designer for about 13 years. Had a few industry jobs here and there. I'm in the process of making a commercial title for the first time. I'm on this site to get feedback and get the word out about my project(s).

hi my name is ashwani and i am a indie game developer from india. have nothing in my belt till yet as to call me indie other than some thoughts in my mind. Smiley been developing small flash games for clients till now and released my two small flash games that just costed me money and didn't paid out a penny. one game earned me $ 0.87  in 1 year so you can guess Smiley.

i also worked on php websites for most of my career, working in a game company for 3 years and made a big php MMO game, but as we all know company work is not counted when you go indie. you need your own stuff. last year i started learning unity as i find it awesome. before that i used to think 3D game developers come from Midguard and are just gods. but when i learned unity i was at awe how much power that engine has.

still learning a lot but (sorry a lot of buts may come, i am not good at phrasing) a few months back i decided to make my first unity game, as any first time unity dev will do, they will jump on a FPS awesome big project like halo :D, i know after some time i knew what i was doing. then i went on track and decided to make a space simulation FPS game, not given up on the idea, working on it and  its in a stage that after some time i am going to go for its marketing etc. money wise i live on Ramen so no money invested in nothing except what we have to buy from asset store etc.

so guys this is my story, see ya.

Josh here!

I'm mostly a programmer, but can also make some decent music. My art is limited to mostly basic shapes though Cry

In the past I've pretty much only worked in 2D, but have recently started learning Unity and doing some basic 3D gamedev. I'm excited to use this site as a devlog and check out what you peeps are up to! Smiley
