before anyone tries anything they'll regret: video game genre taxonomy arguments can never go anywhere because different groups and publications have used vastly different and almost always poor definitions since the dawn of game and there is no central authority on the matter.

RPG and adventure are perhaps the most common buckets to stuff LoZ in. both happen to be very disparately and fuzzily defined

Zelda one is a combat and world exploration game with light puzzle elements. And I mean to say that you explore both the world and combat encounters simultaneously.

isnt zelda a gimmicky hack and slash?

i consider it to be a block-pushing action puzzle game with fantasy elements and crafting

you dont push that many blocks in regular zelda, i mean it aint lolo/eggerland.

crafting?

i mean, at its core you focus mostly on killing monsters and using gimmicks to move forward. i dont think puzzles are a central element of the game, but i havent [pl;ayed any newer zelda game.

Adventures of Lolo is a little known spiritual sequel to Zelda 1.

nintendo was late to the crowd-sourcing wave.  they eventually caught on though with Pictochat.
