It's that time of the month again!

Join us on Wednesday, August 4, 7pm, at Brasserie Artisanale L'Amère à Boire, 2049, rue Saint-Denis, 3rd floor. There will be games! There will be beers! There will be blagging!

Hope to see you there!

(EDIT: And here's the Facebook event page.)

Hey everyone, just a quick notice that we've finally got our website set up:

Mount Royal Game Society / Société ludique du Mont-Royal

From now on, it'll be the central location from which we'll announce meetups, events, and more, so update your RSS readers accordingly. Comments, suggestions, and drunken rants are welcome.

Oh, and check out our Facebook page while you're at it!

Hope to see you all around.

Cool, I'll join in the fun (or awkwardness?) this time around! I'll probably bring my Pirate Heroes board game prototype, if people want to try it out?

It was a somewhat more modest meetup than the previous ones---there was no speaker, we announced a bit at the last minute, and a number of people were out of town too. Still, we did get a good amount of socialising on. I should have a blog post up on the site in the next few days.

News! There is news!

We have a fancy ol' website here now. And the September meetup is coming up in two weeks!

Deets here, for yer lazy fingers:
Quote
Slowly but surely, September is creeping up on us, ready to sucker-punch the summer wind right out of out lungs. We say: to heck with that! Let’s ring the month in with awesome friends, good beer, and excellent indie games! Cranky ol’ September will have no choice but to crack a smile and join in the merriment. Yes: it is time for a MEETUP.

WHEN: Wednesday, September 1, 7:00 pm

WHERE: Brasserie Artisanale l’Amère à Boire, 2049 rue Saint-Denis, 3rd floor

WHO: Anyone interested in creating games! As always, musicians, artists, designers, coders, and aspiring game-makers of all feathers are welcome!

This month, we’ll be doing a demo of some accessible but powerful game creation utilities. There are plenty of great tools for making games that don’t require any prior programming knowledge — perfect if you’re burning to make a game on your own but don’t know how to start, or are just curious to get your feet wet. Approaches, alternatives and secret cheat codes will also be discussed. Let’s get game-makin’!

Hope to see you there!

Awesome stuff. Thanks to everyone who showed a game (or let me play a cool platformer Tongue) and everyone who played Geek Mind with me! It was fun to see everyone shouting out "MARIO BROS 2" or "GISH"! And one guy shouting "BEYOND OASIS! YEAH!"  Beer!

Yarp, neat meet, peeps!

There were more games shown this time around, that was cool!  I hope my lengthy preview of Non Human didn't overstay its welcome too much...

The meet was awesome! We're going to try to make the trip down to Montreal for more of them. We managed to get back to Ottawa this morning in like an hour and 15 minutes hah.

Good beer, good games, good people. I had loads of fun. I guess I should have stopped talking to Dom, Renaud and David and actually meet new peeps ahah.

Oh and if you guys want to play Flubs (puzzle game that was shown on the screen during the night), here's a link: http://flubs.huginn.info/.

On the plus side, if the heat keeps showing up every meeting, we'll be pretty glad to gather up when winter knocks at our door and unloads his thick, white, cold, stuff all over the place.

Yeah, I went there. Wink

We showed up late, it was a bit of a whirlwind, haha. I missed talking to a pile of people I didn't realize was there! Next time for sure.

When do the meetings usually take place? Talked to dom2D/Ika and he mentioned that it's about the first week each month. Is that about right?

We're pretty much sticking to "the first Wednesday of the month," so the next one should be October 6.

You can always follow us at the website, or on our Facebook page for announcements.
