That's an okay start, but we really need to finalize Gish's idle appearance before we can finish any animations.

Well, I guess so. It allows me to give the idle a shot anyway:

The highlight on the last 2 is far too bright...

The last two are perhaps a little too bright. The first two are far too bright.

Actually, those all look pretty good. I think I like the first one best.

In the game, his highlights are a pure white. but, since I thought it looked a little wierd that way, I did two separate ones with different highlights.

Anyway, I'd just like to say that although the illustrations depict him as a ball, in game he is more of a glob or lump, with a shape a little less defined and more flexible but still curved. Plus, he doesn't roll as I've heard people call his walking, he...well, actually, I think how he moves is better described in concept art. I'll post some in a sec.

P.S. That was an edit of the most recent edit of the original sprite, not by scratch.

Actually, in most of the concept art where he isn't deformed (ie: making weird shapes), he's in the air.
From what I remember, at least.

Anyway, in the actual game his highlights were basically pure white, but if we can't get it to look right then don't bother.
The third one looks pretty damn close to how he does in the game.

The highlights are very significant on him, they stand out quite a lot.

Here's the concept art I promised. Hopefully it should give us a good idea of what his walking should be:

I meant to say far too dull. It should be closer to white, but perhaps not as shock white as in the last two images there.

Also, would it be possible to actually make Gish's, sprites generated on the fly?

I noticed that in the game, the highlights are on his side, not on his forehead. Here's an edit:

The middle one has a less "shock" white.

Far too complicated for a game which is (I'm pretty sure) made in Game Maker.

Looks better, but the highlights should be convex, not concave, they need to be bulging outwards no matter the curve of his body.
It looks too weird coming in like that.

Also try thinning them a smidgeon more near his eye.

Actually, Game-Maker CAN do it (I know this, at least for GM8), my question was more along the lines of "is it advisable?".

After some thought, I worked out for myself that the answer would be "no".

I think it should be wider, but the features are excellent. I may do an edit myself. WATCH THIS SPACE

A good way to fill that space may be to add some tar bubbles like you sometimes see in the illustrations in the game. I'd edit it, but I wanna see yours first.

Also, I just realized I accidentally made the box a shade of grey instead of white, sorry  Shrug

It was also made in a hurry so it might need a little polish.
