This game as done for th Global Game Jam and it was done in 48 hours by MiniBoss and friends!  Smiley The theme this year was extinction.

This game is about collecting people, animals, plants and resources from planet to planet while running from the sun, that has turned into a red giant and will became a supernova. The gameplay is a fast paced platform game where you have to choose which resources you will carry in your journey.

Here's the story of our game:

12:07:12.0128 DAY 12809 AFTER CRYOEXODUS
Log for ARK-II, mission 2301.A, written by captain-in-charge, NoahX02.
Mission begins shortly.
All preparations are complete.

Status report. NoahX01: MIA as of the last hour.
Temperature: critical.
Storage system OK ready to receive specimens

+

Early arrival of the sun's thermatmosphere will render most of the remaining life in the system extinct before our current plan can be executed.

It is for that reason that we have ultimately agreed upon adopting plan C to mission 2301, at our own expense and risk. That plan does not exist in your archives. It is as follows:

+

PLANETARY PLAN C
- ARK-II follows the planetary route of plan A;
- Landing begins a minute-long search mission, instead of the 3 hours in A;
- NoahX units to be deployed one at a time to guarantee success;
- ARK-II will depart on time regardless of deployed NoahX units;
- After U-403, ARK-II enters phase 2, and launches to Terranova.

+

All NoahX units have agreed on this, and are willing to make the sacrifice.
We will now transfer to you all control of the NoAH units in ARK-II.
All our hope are belong to you.
It begins now.

Hey, this is Brian from the Ultimate Celebration team. I didn't know you guys were on TIGS!  Beer!

I'm surprised this thread doesn't have more replies, since it has a lot going for it. The graphics and music are both excellent, and it effectively communicates a feeling of impending doom.

I'm curious if the different types of items have different effects. If they do, you might want to make that more clear.

It also seems like the punishment for dying is very small. I wonder if limiting the player's lives would encourage less reckless gaming. It might be worth exploring.

The only real criticism I have is that some parts of the game seem more serious (the music, the setting) and others are more humorous (the game references, some of the funnier items). I think the game could benefit from a more consistent style.

Anyways, the game is one of my favorites from the jam, so I'm curious if you will continue with this project.

Hey Brian! I didn't knew you were here too!

First of all thanks for the feedback, we're really glad you like it!

I agree on the critics, actually, we are redesigning a lot of elements right to make the game more consistent and fun. So, yes, we're working on this project and we want to release a new version as soon as possible!
