when
-its set in WWII
-its set in the future
*plays Company of Heroes, followed by Starcraft*

...

Okay, so you know you're playing either an FPS or an RTS is it's in WWII or in the future.

It can also be set in the modern day, but it has to be as patriotic as possible, or else the terrorists will win.

...when the only woman in the game is the voice telling you what to do.

(The Metroid Prime games were developed in America, but wasn't it Miyamoto's idea to make the switch to first person?)

What's even more interesting is that Ocarina of Time was almost a first-person game. He said that he didn't want people to be confused by the in-game camera and have trouble with the combat. This led to the invention of Z-Targeting, which allows the fighting to exist practically on a 2D plane.

Erm; there are a lot of TBS games set in WW2.  Also, so is Commandos:BHL (which rocks).

They Live!  That would make a wicked FPS actually, not that I'm into them.

Yeah it was originally in they live (one of the greatest SCI-FI movies ever) and "borrowed" by the duke nukem devellopers.
They Live! would make an awesome FPS/beatem up/hobo simulator.

when there's a level that takes place in an everyday place of work or commerce but like, everyone's dead, and there's blood everywhere. clear signs of a super violent massacre. bloody claw marks on the walls, maybe even a message written in blood! clearly something went horribly wrong and then all the lights go out or something! and you freak out, and holy shit, you just saw what looked like the shadow of alien/vampire/dinosaur move over there! LOUD NOISE! LOUD ALIEN/VAMPIRE/DINOSAUR NOISE.

also, when you're a bald jock in a future-suit.

That kinda sounds more like survival horror :D

also, when you're a bald jock in a future-suit.

Now it's a FPS again.

But, but it has a bigger number... A bigger number always means that a game is better, right? That's what my Game Informer tells me. [/sarcasm]

Eh, haven't played either yet, so i won't judge. Tongue

Silent Hills an FPS now?

And American?

It's certainly a third person action game now.
