Does N'Gai Croal count as a game critic? He's good.

I've been reading Leigh Alexander's stuff recently, and it's really really good. She always seems to get to the core of what's interesting about any given game. Her blog is here.

Here are a couple of reviews/articles that I really liked:
Silent Hill 2: Sundering the mind [SPOILERS]
Princess Maker 2: Daddy's Little Girl
Portal: HUGE SUCESS [SPOILERS]
Harvest Moon: Playing the Field
No More Heroes: No more complaints
In Defense of Breast Physics
Official Metal Gear Solid drinking game

N'Gai Croal's Newsweek column: http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/levelup/

Also, an interesing article about post-modernism in MGS2 and other games.

I recently posted the first of many instructional texts about critical review of the interactive medium.

It's pretty easy to infer my opinions on this matter from the link.

I think the market on that has already been cornered. Smiley

I thought magical wasteland had an interesting post on what's generally missing from the current landscape of reviews ...

... so I figured I'd bring this thread BACK FROM THE DEAD!

It's the thread that just wouldn't die!

But seriously, I caught this post today and thought it'd be a nice addition:
Flaws in Criticism today

Funnily enough, the same blog (on PopMatters) had a blog on the Silent Protagonist a few weeks before the TIGS designer discussion:
The Silent Protagonist
Possibly worth a read for some people, although it possibly doesn't anything more to what's already been said.

Since this forum has got its fair share of Swedish members I'd like to recommend Sam Sundberg's articles every Thursday for Aftonbladet.
