I like bloo kid a lot but it's not really a phone game for me.  Whenever I play it I want to be using a gamepad or even a keyboard.  That's my opinion on why it hasn't sold to well, it's not made with phones in mind.  That said I did buy/enjoy it Smiley

Thanks for sharing all the information with us!

And don't worry about making apps for kids, sometime you need to do some cash cow first to be able to take the time and develop a great game. You've succeed in that so kudos to you  Gentleman

Thanks so much for sharing and congratulations!

A couple of questions: I'm currently in the process of building a children's game... Is play testing with kids something you do methodically? Do you have any tips/advice regarding how to best get feedback from children or even other parents?

Also how did you (or did you at all) figure out what age group the game is appropriate for?

A couple of questions: I'm currently in the process of building a children's game... Is play testing with kids something you do methodically? Do you have any tips/advice regarding how to best get feedback from children or even other parents?

Also how did you (or did you at all) figure out what age group the game is appropriate for?

If you are making a game for kids, it is absolutely crucial to test it with kids. You can try to think of how a kid would use your app. But once a real kid tests it, you slap your forehead and think "why did I not think of this???". It happened to me quite some times Smiley

Regarding the age group: I just guessed. For my puzzle apps, I created puzzles which a 2-year old can solve (only 4 shapes on one puzzle) as well as puzzles with up to 16 pieces. A 5-year old can solve these. So I just wrote "from ages 1-6" and nobody complained so far.
I try to have different difficulties in the app, so the age-span makes sense.

Luckily, my nephew and niece are 3 and 5 atm, so they do a lot of testing for me :D

I know many people who have kids, so I don't have problems getting feedback from kids and parents. Maybe you could ask your local Kindergarten if you may visit them and show your app to the kids there? Or at a school? This would also be a good idea regarding marketing. If the kids like it, they will tell their friends. Just make sure the kids remember the name, so their parents can buy your app once its finished :D

BTW, I created a new website that now has all of my "monthly reports" stuff, please check it out here. You can also find the latest income report (currently for march) there.

I have this strong urge to congratulate you on your success... probably because you deserved it. It's great to see how well this all turned out, and I'm happy to see that you now might have the time to make another retro game like Hurricane again.

Remaining stuff sent per mail.
