To contrast the desk post, something we sometimes do during Ludum Dare competitions is share our libraries. Book library, games library, DVD library, and stamp library if you've got one.

Man, my library looks like a bunch of cardboard boxes, some here, some in New Zealand, and some with any luck currently on a boat somewhere in-between. It has looked like this ever since I began to acquire a library (it's mostly a game library I'm talking about here, but some books too).
I'm really looking forward to the day when it all finally gets to be put onto shelves, and I can actually access it all for the first time ever.

I have nothing to brag about I just have a CD folder with all my PC games, and then I sell any console games that don't have good multiplayer. Plus I only own 3 books.

Mines half in the bookshelf in the hall, quarter littered over my desk and quarter stashed upstairs. Mainly art books and coffee table design wanker stuff that looks pretty with some gonzo books thrown in for good measure. No camera, so you'll just have to imagine the most up its arse book collection ever

PoV, I've always been extremely envious of your game programming book library, it puts most bookstores to shame. I thought my library was pretty impressive, but you easily have everything I have and much more .

I thought my library was pretty impressive, but you easily have everything I have and much more . I'm not envious at all, because I have the internet and the memory capacity to not need books. Also, 90% of programming books are gash outside of the pure reference ones.

Aaah, I fully agree with that one. Except for teaching basic stuff that can be easily found on the internet, the only usefull GP books I ever found are the "Gems" series. Too bad that here in Poland they have only the first three in the Game Programming series, and none of the GPU and other series .

OK fine then. Don't post a photo then. Also, 90% of programming books are gash outside of the pure reference ones. Alright, so you hate 25 of my books. A rough breakdown. - 2 shelves of Gems, Gems like, and graphics related references. - 1 shelf of your standard C/C++ fare. The MS orange books, Effective C++ series, K&R, Stroustrup, and some open source stuff. - Half a shelf of math books. - Half a shelf of design books, software, and leftover art books. - 1.5 shelf of technical, CPU, microcontroller, system architectures (PCI, USB, ...), and other hardware goodness. - 1 shelf of art books. - 1 shelf of film, media, and audio related books, and a few leftover art books. - 2.5 shelves of random crap, Java, Rifts, Shadowrun, Warhammer, Biology, some old DOS game programming books. - Nearly a shelf's worth of language books and CD's (on top). And I can't tell you what's on that bottom shelf. I think I have all the game related topics covered. If I'm missing something, other than history, Jeet Kune Do, or Stephen Hawking's, let me know.

These IMVHO are useless - Nearly a shelf's worth of language books and CD's (on top).
Language as in computer language? If so, also useless And I can't tell you what's on that bottom shelf. I guess it's useful then

The problem I've had is that by the time I buy the 3rd book on any subject I start the realize the authors are just hacks like me. My new guideline is that if a person has more book credits to their name than actual productions you can feel free to disregard them completely.
On the other hand, I'm old enough to remember a time before the interwebs where the only way to find shit out was to get a book so there's something comforting about being surrounded by reference volumes, even if I rarely read them.

Hah, I just noticed you have one of the ol' "ladies' handbag" iBooks. Those were great machines, if you excluded the case appearance.

These IMVHO are useless Well excuse me for generalizing and doing lots of stuff. If you haven't noticed I dropped from that list all "different" stuff ;]. It's just that I rarely see a useful CS book... Language as in computer language? If so, also useless German, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, French, Spanish, Sign... though that one wasn't my doing. [/quote] That's fun ^^. /me is trying to learn new languages but I guess my brain has reached it's limit . How about a Polish language book then?

How about a Polish language book then? Half my family is Polish, so I certainly looked, but Chapters didn't have one back when I was on my languages kick.
