You have to watch "Tusk" so you'll feel happiness having no one to talk and share about this movie.

I'm not sure if a carbon copy is praise-worthy though.
More like really sad.

I watched Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me recently, pretty cool movie. David Lynch is really good at evoking the feeling of being in a dream.

ALSO watched Baz Luhrmanns Romeo and Juliet. I really like that movie probably more than the original play. It's all the exact same text but the way the modern setting is used and characters are re imagined is interesting.

iunno, bay takes a lot of pride on its technical achievements (his shots are often studied like really hard by other directors and shit), and wouldnt surprise me if the parallels are deliberate in an inside joke sort of way. he rcognizes his plots and characters are pure cheese, tho.

also, reminds me of chiasmus in movies, obviously, robocop: http://dejareviewer.com/2014/04/29/cinematic-chiasmus-robocop-is-almost-perfectly-symmetrical-film/

I liked that version of Romeo and Juliet more than I probably should have. It probably helps that the soundtrack is amazing.

I love Lynch's work, but I think Fire Walk With Me is far from his best or most "dreamy" movie. Mulholland Drive is probably the best in that regard followed closely by Inland Empire, Eraserhead and Lost Highway. But you probably already saw all those.  Beer!

Blue Velvet is Lynch's best.

Also I saw Mad Max: Fury Road, every action movie will be compared to it from now on. And nothing will live up to it.
