What do you consider yourself to be worst at in game design or game development; or phrased differently, what skill do you think that, if you improved at it, would improve your games the most? This is sometimes not obvious, so I invite you guys to think hard about it.
For me, I think it's programming. I'm not a very good programmer; I went from QBASIC to C to the Ohrrpgce's Hamsterspeak to the Game Maker's Language, but I never really felt as good at programming as the "masters" of those languages. Things like pointers and bitwise operators still baffle me. What would take me days to figure out how to code would take the people who are good at programming minutes. I've improved somewhat in recent years, to the point where I feel I'm on the upper part of average rather than on the lower part of it, but I still think it's my weakest point.

That's a good exercice, let's see: -I spend too much time coding engines insted of coding actual games -I am too perfectionnist, I can spend hours on a single detail until I feel it's right, but that is also a quality. -I tend to undertake projects that are too complex, I can't stick to simple games, and if I try I tend to add little details until it becomes too complex.

My big Weakpoint is that I cant create good looking 2D Graphic. So all my Games dies at the stage where i have to replace my fancy Boxes and gradient blocks with nice looking GFX -_- ... Specialy when i need animations like a walking/running character .. that kills me!

I cannot program. I never finish anything. Anything less than perfect is unacceptable. I bore quickly. Once I've the engine and everything all worked out it's no fun assembling it into an actual game. "put this here. this here. this here. this here. Make this sign say this, this this, this this, test. Can't jump that far, move the platform closer." BO-RING. Of course I rarely get that far. -I tend to undertake projects that are too complex, I can't stick to simple games, and if I try I tend to add little details until it becomes too complex. that too.

Level design.
I can always get past all the engines and sprites in a game, no problem, but when it comes down to piecing the games levels and bringing everything together, that's where I start to falter considerably.

When I'm finishing a project my code starts to get really messy as I just hack things into it. This is fast and is fine if I'm never coming back to the project and I complete it in a week or so but if it's a long term thing I'm screwed.

I am colorblind. My music makes ears bleed. I also dig chicks that look like librarians.

Art, definitely.
Also, I work too hard on the rigid bits behind the scenes, and then throw up my hands and start writing code anyway, without changing the rigid bits so I end up with nasty hacks. Trying to refactor more often now.

Hey, great thread.
I have fun with basically every aspect of game making, even when I'm not so good at it. But I'm probably worst at programming. I've only ever used Game Maker, so it's not like I really do much of that anyway, but when it comes to actually being organized I completely fail. And, when attempting to learn programming, I struggle with some very simple things. It also bores me.

I wish I enjoyed the tedious content building process more. Levels, props and stuff. Art and Music I'm borderline competent, expecting any day now to make those dozen things that let me tell myself "yes, I can do it". Code... I am code.

I can do everything, but I'm not really excellent at anything.
Except making music, I have problems with that but I would like to be good.
