Thanks for the help, I'll have to give it a shot.
As for the part you're stuck on: once you reach level 8 you'll realize you have to do something crazy with a bomb. Once you get back to the second level it'll become apparent what you have to do.

What you have to do is get a decent running start, skid at the edge, and WAIT FOR A HALF SECOND. Once you realize the controls don't have to be split second timed, those jumps become easy. This is really essential to know, but I guess I wouldn't have figured it out on my own. This game really grew on me. Now that I became somewhat good at it, I agree that it's probably even more fun than Nikujin. Especially "dive stabs" are rather hard but most satisfying to do Still, I only got to stage 12 so far. A single mistake in those later levels and you're done far. I'll definitely go on playing this from time to time, hopefully eventually beating it And I'm sure that in the end, like with Nikujin, the game is a breeze to play through once you know exactly what you have to do and how to do it. I guess this could be called a puzzle-action game

My favorites are still Kusariman and the platformer/beat'em'up where you play as an elf.
Nobody seems to remember either of them, instead choosing to focus on the stupidly hard ninja game. Let me explain something to you: In Nikujin you have a sword. In Kusariman you have a flail. In Nikujin you start the game by running in from off the screen. In Kusariman the game begins with you blowing up a wall in the enemy's base and crushing some shmucks to death. In Nikujin you jump around and hit some people with your sword, then fall into a pit and die. In Kusariman you swing around on shit and stomp axemen to death.
The elf game had the most rockingest music of all the games, and it was colossally fun to boot, even if it was a bit frustrating and obnoxious at times.
Edit: Kamutaro, the elf game's called Kamutaro. Get Kamutaro. It's very fun.

Woohoo! Finished Teppoman 2, with what I suspect to be all bananas, 21 of them. Though, I only found one in stage 12, so maybe I missed one there. Great game, great fun to play, slowly progressing a bit more every time I played it. Even now the controls annoy me from time to time, as they feel a bit slippery due to the character's (fun) inertia, and since I sometimes fail to properly start gliding or do the dashing backflip. But, gliding towards enemies and then stabbing them the very moment I pass them just feels so good At the very least Teppoman 2 is now up there with Nikujin for me, though the hidden bananas made the levels even more interesting in this one. [edit] Aha, I did indeed miss one. I guess I shouldn't have always taken the secondary entrances.. (Mild spoiler ahead!) Is there a trick to how/when you have to shoot the final boss's bombs to make them explode? It seemed quite random to me, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

I had the same problem for a while. It's because always jumped immediately after the skid, thinking it was a matter of pixel perfect timing. What you have to do is get a decent running start, skid at the edge, and WAIT FOR A HALF SECOND. Once you realize the controls don't have to be split second timed, those jumps become easy. This. Ideally, you should skid an instant before you fall off the ledge, then slide off and fall a few pixels before you hit Jump. That gives you the room you need to make it over the ledge above. You'll need to do this perfectly to get through level 9, so practice in level 1.

But now I have a problem of my own. And that problem is: HOW DOES THIS JUMP MAKE ANY SENSE. Do you just need to use the flying cheat? Is that it? I am confuse. I realize you posted this a while ago, but I only just figured out how to get this one. And by "figured out" I mean "watched it on Youtube." And then was totally unable to pull it off myself until today. Here is what you do: Blow up the bricks with one bomb, but save the other one. You'll need it to get to the banana. You actually get there by starting from the exit of the level, up where the shotgun guy is holding the key. Get up there with the remaining bomb, then jump over the wall to the left. Carefully drop down to the ledge on the left side of the wall. The platform with the banana is now up and to the left of you. Now here's the trick... you have to make sure you're not RIGHT next to the wall, so edge out a little bit onto the ledge. Then face RIGHT, towards the wall, jump straight up, and throw the bomb at the wall. Immediately hit and hold the jump key after you do this. The explosion will throw you up and to the left, and you will gracefully glide down to the banana. If you're right next to the wall, the explosion won't throw you far enough. So make sure you edge away from the wall a bit, then jump and throw the bomb. It's easy once you figure it out but it took me a while to figure out how to do it, so you may need to practice it a few times. I also had to use this technique to find one of the bananas near the end of the game. It might be possible to get that one another way though.

As long as you hold Shift and Left as soon as you are blasted to the left side, you should have no problem getting on the platform

I always just stand right at the wall. As long as you hold Shift and Left as soon as you are blasted to the left side, you should have no problem getting on the platform When I try that, I usually end up not getting thrown high enough. It would work maybe one time in five or something. It seemed like being a little bit away from the wall was more reliable for me. I think the game reacts differently depending on how far you are from the explosion... later in the game there are some places where you can use this technique after wall-jumping, so you are in the air near the wall but not right next to it. That was how I figured it out. Of course, maybe I just suck at pulling it off.

Ah well, I've done it some many times by now, maybe I always throw the bomb at a specific time so that I get blasted a little further, whereas otherwise it wouldn't work. I think I throw it just before I'm at the highest point of the jump, while I'm still rising. Maybe that way the bomb explodes just a few pixels lower than it does if you throw it at a later time, blasting you further. Maybe. Another Ikiki game, Teppodon, also had me retrying countless times and getting a tip from someone until I got an otherwise simple explosion jump right. I guess they are rather finnicky in general
