Uh. No. This thread is for suggesting a well-known indie character to go into the game.

The best way to see if a character is well-known is through empirical study. The Shadowling is an indie character and I really can't see the problem with suggesting it and giving some example of how it could look. If it doesn't seem that it seems like there's a lot of support for adding a character no harm is done and we all move on. I mean, it's not like everyone can know what characters are well known until they are suggested.

There's no rule against submitting your own characters. However, the character should be well-known in the indie gaming community, and it should fit well into a fighting game. If no one recognizes the shadowling, it's not iconic enough to make it on to the roster.

Sorry if I ruffled any feathers! Telepath RPG is fairly well-known on the major Flash game portals, so it didn't seem like a huge stretch to me to submit a character from the series here. Anyway, no worries--I won't post anything else from the series here unless there's some demand for me to.

This isn't exactly the flash portal crowd, in case you haven't noticed.

We aren't allowed to play flash portal games? Oh, dang, I guess I'll have to go and hide in shame now.

Why not? Those are indie games too, you know. Not everything has to be coded in C++ with bad programmer art to qualify.

Now, i've been thinking, and in realation to the topic.
Adding a huge roster of character is a pain in the ass, and its bound to happen that we are going to leave some serious figures in the dust.
So... a striker system, tho, not really striker in the MvsC or KOF style, but in the area of pokemons hiding in pokeballs like in smash brothers, but this could very well be computer discs (cds or disquettes)wich contain a indie character as support attack.
Of course the advantage of this, is that we are paying tribute to a more big roster of characters, and is doable in the sense of less sprite-work/code work.

I think someone mentioned somewhere here that the Death Worm would be a great support character. I'm all for this idea, some characters are very hard to incorporate as a playable character but are perfect as support characters Uboa from Yumme Niki also comes to mind

We can also take characters that wouldn't make great fighters and include them in stages. Oh, and there's nothing wrong with flash games. There are some pretty great indie games made with flash (like N and Alien Hominid). Just keep in mind that what's popular on Armor Games may not be what's popular with indie gamers.
