I should have used flash/blender/spriter or some other tool to do my sprite animation instead of developing my own (which will be updated and publicly available soon!).

Nope, it's high up on the peak of a mountain, so it'll be background-less. Thx lemony!

gotta say im a little tired of people being pedantic about pixel art rules, especially when the results actually look really good.
That's cool. I think people should stop using so much pixel art if they don't give a shit about the pixels being pixels. Isn't it fun how we both have opinions about a thing. Anyways, I don't mind with moonman. Moonman is alright. <3

Moonman is alright. <3 this is true though in the end we all die alone Edit: wait i didn't mean to be dogmatic about anything, i just meant to say that sometimes things drawn in pixels that break the "pixel art rules" are really cool looking and fit an aesthetic, ie moonman.

Thanks everyone. Great to hear you like the backgrounds. As for the art style - I'm happy to not call it pixel art. Actually I think I've referred to it as post-ANSI art most of the way through this devlog but now it's not that either. The square elements that make up the sprites are post-pixels, pixels that have broken their rectilinear shackles and who now feel the freedom of arbitrary linear transformation. At first it was an economic decision to 'break the grid' with the many items and weapons requiring different sprites for different orientations, but then I added rotations and scaling to the plants and scaling effects when you hit an enemy. [:D]

Love the idea of the different moons and the overall look (regardless of its origins). I just hope the head-ducking makes it in -- it looked quirky and fun, and there's something offbeat and appealing about it. I think it's the fact that it was automated and didn't slow down the player's movement; just an extra adaptive touch touch to environment traversal.

Update: New fluid style and many other edits (e.g., new stone bricks). Haven't dropped a gif in a while, so here is one just for you.
